5-8kts then 10-17kts NNE-NE Peely Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.1m

7mOD- WT64(112ltres)-24FF

 then 7.5m GT Turbo - WT64-24FF

I was really keen to try the WT speedsailing and in flatwater for the first time. Braved the holiday traffic(ugh) and arrived about midday.. Blowing 18-20kts NNw at times but I wanted a NE for some flat water..Hung around and everyone arrived. It switched to the NE and Norah graph was looking good although the lake looked dodgy.

I'd rigged for 15-19kt with the 90ltre WT57 and 7m sail.. We watched Wayne go out and he wasn't doing much but he got enough puffs to suck me out on the WT64 with the 7m..ugh felt horrible, The harness lines felt wrong and there wasn't not enough to get going ( 5-10kts)..One run and went back in for the 7.5m..

Everyone gave up and went home except for Pete and Macca. Got back out and it came in nicely in the chop in the middle and over near Buff. I had a ball in the small chop just getting used to the board and FF. I did one bearaway in the middle for the 2 sec. It felt good but I was thinking maybe the usual weedy would give me an edge in the 15 -30cm chop.

I was happily blasting away when the harness line snapped and the kit went one way and I the other..I'm not the worlds greatest swimmer especially with all the gear on and I only just grabbed the sail before I took my last gasp and had a heart attack..Undecided

I had visions of watching it end up at the bridge at Toukley..lucky the wind and chop weren't too bad.

I managed to sail into the shallower water and put the good line on the port side so I could sail in..It was pretty late by now but I'd been having so much fun I wanted to go back out and changed booms and put the WT32 weedy in.

That was a mistake as the usual weedy picked up the big blobs of seagrass so I spun out and  felt glued to the water... I was also really tired and starting to fall in so I called it a day.

I really wanted a flatwater gybe refresher. I was gybing in the small chop and pretty rusty although I got one that felt good( in the nm).

I got home in the dark but at least the freewaywas empty.

Well I didn't get any speedsailing or much gybe practise but it was so much fun trying to go fast in the small chop. I'm pretty rusty I think I need a few sessions to get back into working up and bearing away etc..zzzzzzzzzzzz

Sounds like Sunday was the day..Undecided
