kato (37520km): Unknown Location. A little adventure with Daffy in hope of an epic session...... not quite but a lot of fun was had . The place could be the best place in Vic for a Nm if the planets align. The wind just didn't kick in enough, 18-23 at the most and we had only bought small gear with us on the boat. Great to do looong runs in the mist and rain but it made it interesting in finding your way back to the run and the boat. Went up the wrong channel at one stage and couldn't work out why the wind had changed . A great mid week break Sl 87, Weapon 30, Koncept 6.6 | ||||||||||||||||||
Sailquik (29582km): Port Albert, NM spot, Vic. The forscast was for 25-30 knots Easterly with no North in it. Low tide was midday. As it turns out we has 18-20 knots and the tide was not very low so we ran out of bank almost immediatly. At first there was only 16-18 knots and I was struggling to get planing on my gear. As time went by, the wind gradually filled in to around 20 knots so I was just powered up to get back upwind most of the time. I was fun rattling over the chop, but my peak speed was only 31 knots. It was a nce adventure and we learned a bit more about the area and the spot. With only one boat, I was reluctant to use mine (it might be a bit old and unreliable) but Kato was able to borrow his Father in Law's Webster alloy Shark Cat, and what a beauty it is, Lots of cockpit room! Unfortunately, soon after we started the trip, the engine decided to run on less than the full complement of cylinders. Oh-Oh. We go home but it was a leasurely cruize. Misty rain all day so not many photos or vieos. IS80, 5.7m KA Speed, Atomic 30cm Weapon.
