Launched from Lota over to Wello in anticipation of heading back for a session in the creek if the storms held off... nothing could be further from the truth!!

In the end was over finned and under Mojoed... wild ride back downwind to Lota un-hooked all the way. I made it John didn't, I will let John tell that story.

The first strong wind session in months, hopefully it"s a sign of more to come this summer.

At least I got a laugh when the Captain told me he lost his pantsTongue out

A very big afternoon. The plan was to rig at Lota and sail over to Wello. That part worked well. The bank was perfect,  the wind was NE 25 to 30kts, so resonsably square and we had to slingshot into the chop. The 38.5 is a pb for me at Wello. The next part of the plan was to sail back to Lota and sail the creek once the tide went below 0.8. There was a slight lull in the wind so we headed off. I got about a third the way across when the wind returned with a vengence. I could not control my speed and ended up launching of waves and catapulting. I tried tacking downwind and slowly made progress across the bottom of the bay, but I was getting tired. Bt the time I broke my harness lines on about the 7th catapult, Nick had come out with his jet ski and offerred a rescue which I happily agreed. Unfortuneately we got one end of the rescue rope caugth in the jet ski impeller, so Nick required rescue too. He rang his next door neighbor who came out in his tiinny and took both of us back to Nick's place at Paradise Waters. A valuble lessoned learned. When its 25+kts, don't try and sail across the bay.

Queens Beach, QLD, AU

BIG bump and jump session at Queens. Beach, no speed, lots of crashes, average wind about 30kts before the storm, gusting to close to 40. Survival mode on the 4.7. Saw some great speed results -- well done to the fasst crew

The wipeout looked pretty spectacular from shore Glynn! And good to see you back safe in the car park after. Crackin 38.7knot speed there as well! The rest of the team(s) will have some standout figures to report too.

Looks like you gave up too early Phil. Just after hail was the right time.
I am guessing few holes in the sails doeasn't really lower perfomance when such a gust hits .

I rememer sailing Green Isalns onKA 5.0 with one top panel shreded and still fill pleanty of power in similar wind .

Now John, firstly let me congratulate you on your excellent speed there, and Secondly, thank you for egging me on to try the sandbank run today to get a 30knot plus speed, and Thirdly, that is quite a story you have there for today, misadventure and madness combined to write home to the young lings about. Dear Nick deserves a medal for trying to rescue you today despite the misfortune. I've counted four hail storms so far today, and receiving the fifth this very minute. It certainly was a day to remember, and we've yet to find out the results of the State Election.

Geez John, that's an adventure.  I was trying to decide between Queens and Wello yesterday, sounds like it was just as windy there as it was up at Redcliffe -- glad you are OK, congrats on the big speed.

Good to hear that both survived their mishaps. These are the types of days we talk about with fondness years later.Laughing
