Wind was cranking as we were rigging and it was gusty/windy for awhile but dropped off and became patchy/gusty. would have been ok with a much bigger sail

Pure Southerly with large wind shadow at the beach. Conditions out past the reef were good however. A large area of flat water was available heading downwiind. Most unusual. The wind strengthened a bit after a while and a change down was needed. Then a big squall came and the afternoon was over. Sailing with Sau, the Dr, and Brent. 2sec on the big gear.
