I should have believed the forecast and gone out later..
A bit patchy at times at first but I got about 3/4hrs where I was consistently planing. More gybes than usual and I'm pretty happy with them. Nothing amazing but I didn't drop any and they are feeling better. Just Nic and I and one other sailor??
First use of the new turbo and a test of the impact vest..
Headed over to LMYC as the wind was better and it was a little flatter. It really kicked in as I arrived.. I thought it was just the usual stronger in Belmont Bay thingy at first. Stopped for a rest and screwed about 85% tail flex in to depower the fin. I was worried it would take over..
I managed to survive the first bit by crouching my weight on the rail and not sheeting the sail in much..It was patchier across near Coal but still very strong . The S had just arrived..
The boards have never given me a minutes worry so I didn't take enough precautions as I hit a 1.2m ramp. The wind got the board and launched it and I was catapulted around the front into the sail.. Ow..
My first thought was "NOOO! My new sail!!!..the window will be trashed.." Phew no damage....I got my first use of the vest as my ribs copped the boom again..I suppose it must have helped but they are still pretty sore. The same spot that got damaged in Feb at Lake George..
Andrew , Tony - Greg all foiling and came in about now.
Got in and had a bite to eat. I was injured so I rigged the small sail and wavegear for comfort rather than speed. I was the only one out and
I didn't last long as I need to almost go into catapult stance to get it going and I wasn't very keen on trying that and risking another stack..Luckily the wind was strong enough to just head it off the wind with my front foot and power the sail to go..I tried a few jumps but spun out on landing. I was getting very powered up in messy conditions and I didn't want to risk another injury so I called it a day.
I hope the ribs don't take too long to mend..
