Sandy Point, Vic.

I late change to wsw, and then SW, and maybe even close to SSW just before dark. It was hard to tell what the wind strength was as it looked up and down and gusty. I guessed 25knots, so went with IS80 and 5.7m, First few runs I was really hanging on and fighting a bit in the big gusts, so I must have been gusting 30kts. But it settled a bit as it went more South. Most of th fastest peaks were well down the run towards the Red channel marker. And I could sail straight back up the bank, so not quite broad enough most of the time.

Had to go and talk to a kiter who got blown away trying to launch just as the change hit. His mate swum over the the East bank on a boogie board to try and help him but they were stuck there. It would have been almost impossible to swin back against the wind with the kite. The police had been called and I assumed, correctly, that they had called the Ocean Rescue boat and were waiting for it to arrive. I told the guys to just wait, and they seemed quite happy to do so. Rescue boat duly arrived and picked them up.Smile

The Peterman family came out for a spin, and another windsurfer, so it was a nice crew for company for a while. Smile

There was definitly enough wind for the speed board for a while, but no time to change and I think I would have been struggling for enough wind at the end.

IS80, Tribal Weedspeed 27cm, 2021 KA Speed 5.7m. Mini Motion GPS.

My guess on the wind was pretty close according to the Annemometer at Yanakie:
