Clifton Beach, QLD, AU  Fun little arvo sail on the big gear & new Unifiber carbon boom in 10~15kn SE-ESE winds.

Was going to give it a miss after checking out Yorkey's/Holloways/Machans earlier on, but then got word from the Doc that there were some white caps forming off the Cove.

A quick decision was made!  Headed straight to Clifton Esplanade, after a brisk dog walk with the good wife.

And Yeessss!, it was true, a mini post Christmas miracle had taken place being greeted with white caps on arrival.  Quickly rigged and got out on the water heading straight over to the outer edges of the reef off Double Island/Scouts Hat.  Motion read just under 28kn top speed in the swell for the first run with the big fin in...

It was a steady 15kn seemingly on the up, so headed straight back to the launching spot at Clifton to report back to Dr Cam & switch out the big fin for the kestral 24- plan then being to get over onto the reef flats.

Inspired Dr Cam to then rig up & straight back out I went again...  15 minutes or so later, the wind started to lose it's gusto...  That's when me & the kestral started disliking each other after a few fin slips, so straight back to the beach I went opting for the big fin again.

Dr Cam was now out on the water and had made his way over onto the reef flats to check out the water level!  Unfortunately the wind kept weakening, 10~13kn being my guess.  Aaargh!!!

Now with the big fin in, I just stuck to the outer edges scooting around in the swell.  Came back in when the wind had dropped below 10kn and was pleasantly surprised with an ice cold glass of ginger beer at the ready and a nice chinwag with the Doc before derigging- Absolute Legend! Cool

Very happy with the new boom!

Used the Jag 125, Severne 8.6 M2, Venom 48/BP Kestral 24
