KA KONCEPT 5m for morning session with iSonic 94, 28cm upright speedfin on the east bank for a coupla runs, brother Simon Ford howling past mostly, although was nearly closing in on an end of one run, ha.

10 best 1 Jan 21ka tracks 1-1-21
For the afternoon on the pond with JP 65 speed and Naish 4m and Mr Love's weedfin,
tried the 94l too, still not great, maybe should really left the 5m rigged upbut ah well, dissapointed in the effort

wind nuclear, morning and arvo average 20 with 30knt gusts, ENE, Daffy thinks 35+.

tried for a nautical mile - imposs, same with jibing, just being able to control the 5m was impressive enough for/to me!

Sandy Point, Vic.

I nice start to 2021. Warm, sunny and 25-30 knots of wind. Good omen?

Tides were wrong for me though. Low in the mrning (can't get my old bdiy going that early) and just before dark in the evening. So I went down to see if the Boat Hole was a possibility around hugh tide. It looked pretty good with just a half hour to go to high tide. I measured the wind at solid 25-30 with slightly higher bullets.

I rigged the 4.7m to be on the safe sude and went with the CA40 of course, but this time I had a chance to give Martin's Atomic Prototype 16cm weed fin a workout. I was not sure how it would hold in in the chop but it turned out to be very safe and secure indeed. Turning into the speed run was super choppy and bouncy, and I was worried enough to unhook the first few times, but the fin was flawless. I just held on and accellerated. From tentative 36 knots peaks to 37, then 38 and 39 as I gained confidence in the fin and got slightly better gusts. This fin felt so good here that I am considering it a viable alternative for a symmetrical all rounder, not just a weed speed fin for Lake George. Cool

As the tide dropped again, the watter got nice and flat but the gusts were not as strong. The runs were longer and more consistent though.

In the middle somewhere I had a couple of laps on another sailors SB Kode 98 with his  4m NP Combat sail. Felt pretty nice. Smile  My watch showed a 33 knot peak, which I thought was very respectable for that type of board and sail.

Lots of fun and many smiling sailors.

CA40, 2020 KA Speed 4.7m, Atomic Proto. weed speed 16cm fin. Mini Motion.

Area 45, Mahers Landing, VIC, AU

Surprised there were so few out here but a nice way to start the new year. The afternoon low tide was quite late with the banks not really emerging until around 5pm, by which time the wind had dropped substantially. I sailed to 8pm and was at times underpowered on my 5.7 Race.

F2 Missile XS with KA 20cm assy briefly but not enough wind, then CA SL53 with Atomic Weed Weapon 20cm and KA 5.7 Race.
