Day trip at very short notice, once I'd realised that the ribs I thought I broke here on Sunday, were infact just badly bruised.

Got there mid morning and drove out to Cockeys. No one around, so I rigged and hit the water as it was already over 20 knots. I sailed and sailed and sailed and sailed... upwind, downwind, upwind, downwind... thinking I might have a chance to beat my previous distance PB.

100km in, still no one around, then they come out of the dust haze one by one in their vans and 4WD's. Such a spoilt bunch these LG sailors.

Came in for chat and a catch up. Wind picked up, so went out again and a massive gust slid the adjutable outhaul cleat down the boom arm, so back in to remove adj outhaul, and change down. It was getting windier.

I'm on the 5.6 now, and I've never liked this sail (sorry Severne). Boom is meant to be 180, but it is way too short for the 180 Severne boom. It never rigs right. I'm getting rid of it. I need gear I like and am comfortable on when its this windy.

Couldn't find flat water and gusts that aligned, and was gettting pretty knackered now after the morning session - and the ribs still weren't great.

So I called it and retired to watch the pros rip it up.

Can't wait to see Spotty's numbers!!

One of those days Chris when conditions look good for some consistient low 10 sec 40's, but was a struggle to break out higher even though having touches of over power into bear away speed just seemed to fade, hit a wall most of the time it seemed.  Good day still and worth the trip.

Another great day trip Chris. Ive got the mach 3 in the 5.5 size, 184 boom length, on a rdm, really nice to use, mustve been some improvements in the design since R7 I suppose, hope the ribs survived yesterdays big day on the water, looks like you sailed the whole lake in a day Cool
