Ant-man (13085km): Coal Point, NSW, AU. 4.7 Ezzy Naish Foil. A bit too light to call it a great session but better than being at work. Plenty out/going out despite the way less than expect wind. Ezzy sail felt very nimble.
GeoffS (7860km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU JP Formula Severne 8.6 Deb R13 Better day, still totally stuffed though. Heres hoping I'm fit by the end of summer.
Bruce Healey (24088km): Gosford, NSW, AU Green point. Crap

Lyds (10267km): Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU Foil Evo, 7.0, CA160 enjoyable foil but very up and down. Went to Coalie and it looked like it was picking up then just died. Had fun on the rink doing alphas
Bostonfoil (17127km): Belmont Bay (slipways), NSW, AU JPHF 135 GTR+ foil SS7.0 Disapponiting NE 8-14 kts - Looked like it was gonna blow like yesterday so rigged small but didnt even get close. Still fun. Lyds, Steve, John Pearce and Greg all spotted.
Tibor (17557km): Gosford, NSW, AU Nothing like what was forcast and expected but still good enough for a little funuing again my SB 177+9.m+900 wing. Four of us out there!
| ||||||||||||||||||
Chopper (3597km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Mistral Explosion, Retro 6.5m More time in rear straps - nearly feeling OK back there - maybe they aren't just for decoration afterall! Didn't fall in on any tacks.
Greg Kiskarpati (20260km): Coal Point, NSW, AU
Andrew Haigh (48951km): Coal Point, NSW, AU: NE 12-18 Stingray 800.95+.330 with 5.5m Then the "Send it" wing!
Report for Tibor regarding 95+ and 330 rear stab Similar conditions to yesterday, although a bit lighter. I had everything rigged the same except I swapped the 255 for the 330. There is an immediate and obvious difference, It feels like there is much more lift although really it is just that you need a lot more front foot pressure to keep it down. Overall the speeds where very similar, if anythings I felt that the 330 stab was slightly slower, but definetly more stable. Over a km of cruising I may tap the water 4 or 5 times with the 255 but perhaps only once with the 330. I think in windy conditions I would prefer the 255 as controlling the lift is easier, but in light conditions the 330 is much easier to keep level.
Mick Saunders (11686km): Hearts point Myall AU NE 15 knts. It was worth the drive to foil on this patch of water. the lay of the surrounding land keeps the water reasonable flat. However, because you sail downwind from launch..about one km say and have a gear problem, your in trouble. Very few boaties to be seen..anywhere. Only Cluffy and I out there. Another windsurfer showed up with a buddy in a speed boat to tag him. Smart. I failed to do a good gear ckeck before hand but very noticable on my return. Lucky me. sboardcrazy (24381km): Patchy 5-15kts E few patches 15-17kts Coal Point, NSW, AU 7.5m Turbo- WT64 ( 112ltres)- 35cm tectonics weed demon Got there early and it was forecast to come in after 3pm so we ignored the great 13-17kts at 1pm to find the cloud came and capped it off and it got patchier later on.. It was actually better than it looked. I was surprised to get planing and stay planing on my first run. Good strength for the big kit. I had to bounce the board in a 12kt puff to get going but I was surprised how long I could keep it going. It's certainly easier doing distance if you are comfortably powered rather than hanging on for grim death.. Bugger. I thought I had a distance PB but missed out by 3kms.. I should have done another run. It started out pretty messy at times. The chop was only 30-60cm but the boats had cut it up and the board was slamming. I added more tail flex which made for a comfy ride but that takes away a bit from early planing so I had to work a bit harder to get it over the hump. Later in the day once the boats went home it smoothed out and I took the flex out. I had some issues with the Turbo today- partly rigging partly setup.. I was pretty powered up over at the sand islands and muffed a gybe. The cams were popped the wrong way for waterstarting. I had one try but I'm still protecting my ribs so I decided to uphaul and swam the board around. As I stood I noticed 2 young girls on a jetski watching me from about 15m downwind. I think they thought I was in trouble and were hoping to help. I was caught up in restarting and uphauled caught a gust and bore off a bit to get blasting,.. they gunned it to get out of the way.. I noticed the boom cam had popped off so went back in and fixed it. I was having trouble getting it to pop and the battens were wrinkled but I didn't want to tighten them more as I figured that would make it worse..( tried it earlier). It kept on for quite a while but I had to come in and fix it once more . I'll put another spacer in. More ( max) downhaul seemed to help too. Going up past Coal I was caught in a large yachts windshadow. I was only plodding trying to work to get above it but the wind was too light and patchy. I got a big lull, almost fell in and swore.. The guys on the yacht had been watching me for a while ( only 50m away) and he gestured with a can / suggested a beer... I finally got enough to get above and past them. Good wind over at the islands and flatwater the one time I got up high enough. The 2 sec is a cheat as the water was below the weedbeds and flat..I should have sat and waited for a decent gust as there wasn't a lot of wind the one run I got. Happy to be able to sail after the rib damage..I'm certainly not as picky after almost 3 weeks off.. Nic , and another guy on fins. Tony , Gert , Andrew , Greg and a cameo appearance by Lyds all on foils. 3 winddingers plus about 5 with an ehtourage going up above the point- looked like they were training. |
