Sailquik (29582km): Sandy Point, Vic. The big Tandem Race Day!! There were THREE Gemini Tandems at Sandy Point this weekend and Local lad Issac said lets have a regatta. So today we had a play and a fun race from the speed bank up to the Yanakie bouy and back. Great fun as the wind had picked up a bit and we were pretty powered up at times with the 6.6m/7.0m combination. Top speed during the reach down the Yanakie channel was 20.4 knots for us. I feels a lot faster. LOL! Before the others arrived Peter and I had a blast around on out slalom boards in 15-20 knots of wind for a bit of fun. It was a nice WSW so the speed bank was good, but it was a but of a slog getting back upwind. Would have been nice in that wind to have a SW for long reaches on both tacks. A big thanks to Peter J for coming down and crewing for me on the Tandem. It was comedy of errors and a bundle of fun all at the same time. IS97, KA 2021 7m Race, Tribal weedspeed 34cm. Peter Johnston (8869km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU 15-20 knots WSW swinging a bit less west at times. Fun day blasting around with Andrew, then some racing on tandem windsurfers! We had three tandems out and ran two fairly informal races. CA SL 53 with Atomic Weed Weapon 20cm and 6.6M KA Koncept. According to Andrew we only slightly topped 20knots twice on the tandem but it certainly felt fast blasting along on that big plank! Andrew was skeptical that my 20cm weedie would hold with the 6.6M sail but it only let go briefly once or twice in the chop when I was a bit leadfooted. But it re-engaged very fast which was nice! I'm loving this fin! Thanks Martin!! |
