Coal Point, NSW, AU

Mistral Explosion, Retro 6.5m

Only one run out and then back in.  Was so relieved to get back.  Andrew's instruction today was to "fully commit to the sail".  So, the board left the water (or that's what it felt like) a couple of times, which resulted in carnage both times and I decided to come in.  Couldn't get the last little bit in down wind, so just floated in.  Def need to learn to water start, gybe, go downwind, surf the waves etc etc etc.  I love the lake, but it is sooo lumpy (and the lumps are sooo big)!

Coal Point, NSW, AU, Southerly 15-20

Stingray, Whisperer, 5.5

Sweet session - Foiling really is cheating.

Down to Valo to see what Sue was up to, she has taken to hanging out with wave sailor dudes. They all had tiny sails and their standard turn was a duck gybe.

10-24kts S- SSE Valentine, NSW, AU messy chop and some 90cm rollers

Sailed 1- 3.30pm with rig change

5.7m Gator- Windtech 57 ( 90ltres) - 28cm WT weedy then 24cm WT Stealth fin

5m Gator- 85ltre WT Waveboard - 20cm centre fin

I didn't really enjoy today. I chose the wrong combos. The big board felt too big and fast for the lumps and I was constantly avoiding ramps. I handled it ok but I'm still a bit nervous in chop after my rib bruising episode a few months ago.

It seemed messier than usual. it usually settles into regular rollers when the wind gets up but I think it was veering around too much so there was messy chop as well as the rollers.

Started out with the 28cm weedy but after 30mins came in and put the mastfoot forward , extra downhaul and max tailflex plus the smaller fin to settle things down a bit. That helped but I just wasn't feeling it today.. Lake george has ruined me for Lake Macquarie..Cry

I was hoping for some gybing practise in the flatter water near the shore but I think there was too much E in it as after a while it was unusable with big holes  in the wind..Frown

I rigged down and tried the waveboard at the end . It felt unreal in the gusts but there weren't enough of them. I should have changed to a bigger fin earlier  used the 5.7m on it and used some of the ramps ..I haven't used it much this summer and find the need to get forward into an  almost catapult stance to get going a bit disconcerting so I wasn't going as early as I should have been.

Pete and Shane from Nobby's , Andrew called in on the foil, a wing dinger and a few more sailors.

Yep Andrew and they make me feel old and useless..Laughing I used to sail at Nobby's with one of them and  he still does..

It is challenging Nic! A smaller board will make life easier in the lumps in some regards.
