waricle (17713km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU CA66 switchblade 6.8 tws31 water was still high with lumps in the channel and wind was light to begin but overpowered right at the end. Basil, Decrepit, Remery and Hardie for company with not a pinna in sight. (Probably operating on tigers or something) I took a while to tune the setup today so results mediocre but enjoyment excellent 🤘
Hardie (35741km): Lipton's much better winds and lower water meaning flatter water. Towards the end the wind really picked up and wishing I was on smaller gear. Went for Nm's today, ecstatic with my NM. Gear = Simmer 3XS 106 NP EVO9 7.0m
Decrepit (54506km): lIptons, too much board and too much fin, and probably not enough downhaul on the Avalon 5.5. Harddly any wind when I arrived, so grabbed the 65cm board with 29@45 weedy. Wind looked like it was picking up so thought I'd give the avi 5.5 another try. Thought I'd given it a bit more downhaul, but forgot with Bugsy's sails and my unground masts, I need to wet the luff first. Did n't remember this until I came in, and managed another cm of downhaul. Wind continued to pick up, and the big board and fin started to get a bit unmanagable. It wasn't until the second last run I tried shifting the mast base back, contrary to my idea that base forward is better for chop, it actually improved the ride, board started flying and it was smoother over the chop, still couldn't get much in the way of speed though. Then the wind went up another notch or too and life became hard again, so called it.
Bully boy fat Basil (4782km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Much more enjoyable than yesterday. Water was a bit lumpy but that did not deter the usual bunch of reprobates
remery (5226km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU I got to try out a new fin! WT57, OD7.0, TWS27. |
