Boundary Island, Peel Estuary, WA, AU

Arrived to 5knots with Flex and Ant hoping for a big blast so went out with the 56falcon and 6.6 wp29.  The wind didn't quite deliver in and was super gusty but still got a few gusts between trying to get planning alot of the time. Great board choice for the few gusts and a poor choice for a cruisy sail. Saw a 40.1 peak which shows the gusts compared to the 2sec and 5*10. Great fun.

Great sail with Woody and Flex on the Mandurah pond.Good call Woody :) Plenty of power in the gusts and some nice flat runs along the weed bank.6.2 NX,90,RS2, 25 ws.

The most frustrating wind I have ever sailed in at Melville.  Not a light weight persons day!  I tried iSonic 90, JP 54 slalom, 6.2 Mach3, 5.0 Mach3 and a bevvy of different fins.  All to no avail.  However, Chris Lockwood had no such problems and was zooming all over the place at very high velocity.  Ricey, Flatchat and .......

Melville Beach, WA, AU

A pretty gusty session as expected with a few die hards. Some strong bullets coming through but very short burst. Super high tide but relatively flat.

Coodanup, WA, AU   Based on captains forecast it sounded as if Coodanup was going to be the go but a lumpy session it would be...at least there would be wind and I could see if 5 hrs of sanding the fangy fin did anything.   How wrong could I be.  Seems like 6 times the charm for Mandurah.  Arrived with little wind in sight but there was a blue van already there.  Turns out this is Woody.  He thought chook pond was the go today but wanted to check out another spot so took me there while we waited for the wind.  Tide was too high for that so came back and rigged up.  Antman rolled up and collectively we headed for the pond.  Wow, what a spot!  First flat water in Mandurah for me, knee deep, no seaweed, no weird creatures and fairly firm clay bottom.   Was even about 10m section where you could call glass.  Woody was complaining there wasn't enough wind for him but there was plenty for me.   Couldn't really tell much difference between the rough as versus about 1200 grit finish fangy fin.   Certainly didn't have the upwind ability of the TWS which I could have got away with today as deep and no weed. FF certainly wasn't as solid in the gybes as had a few offs which is not common for flat water but this might have just me getting used to it.   However was a fun session and nice to sail with guys considerablly better than me.     Nice to meet you guys finally and thanks for showing me around.  120 Tabou rocket, 6.7 RRD Move, 22 FF (1200 grit)    Could have gone longer but didn't bring any hydration as didn't expect anything other than a rough hard workout.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Went for a couple of runse and decided to retire uninjured. Those gusts were too strong for me.

Reg was showing me how to do it, after he got airborn, with 7 kilos of lead I believe.

Tim was going really well also.

For me it was mainly a good chat on the beach, and looking forward to sailing another day.

Excellent choice of venue Woody, Ant and Flex.  What was I thinking!  Nice PB's Flex, the beauty of the right venue at the right time.

Nice work on the numbers today, Team! Big jump up the ladder into #1 spot! Great effort, and good call for the pond, Woody. I had thought the wind would be too southerly for the pond today. Obviously I was wrong.  It looks like the direction was perfect for longish runs. I am especially surprised we managed to improve the hour today. The hour is usually very difficult in high tide and frontal winds.

Flex, congratulations on a beeeg haul of PBs today and 2 jellybeans - well done!100 km of sailing in the pond is a lot of runs! The track must look like a plate of spaghetti.

Well done Woody on a 39 today, and Ant on consistent 36's and a big 100 km + distance. Fantastic effort!

Reg, a 30 at Melville in today's conditions is a good effort too! Well done!

Congrats Flex. Good to hear you had a good session at last! Out of interest, what size TWS are using as a comparison?

Hey Fangy, my comparison is the 33 TWS which is the only real (as in not generic that came with the board) other fin I have and I have 1-2 months experience on that. Absolutely it (TWS) has better upwind abilty IMHO than the FF (based on 2 runs)  ...but I still have to polish your fin so there is still potential.  Its also a hard (unfair) comparison as your fin was designed for real weed and real shallow and today there was no weed and real deep. Also I noticed I had a small gap between fin and board on right hand forward side and the fin is slanted a few degrees to left...(result of rushing the Power box fitting) so theres all sorts of drag I've introduced.    I am a Rookie (less than 2 years since I could gybe) so take anything I say with a pinch of salt.   Still lov'n your fin but unconvinced on the need for finishing it...then again, still gonna polish it to mirror and anodise it on the grounds that if it looks good it looks like it might go faster.

Reg et al, today for me, was a combination of standing on the shoulders of giants (Woody and Antman), being in the right place at the right time (Captain and Woody) and pure osmotic pressure of sailing with said giants.  All I did was hang on...but damm it was fun.  Hopefully I learnt something...sure felt like my first (GPSTC awareness) day in Albany chasing Stretch, Morts, Boz etc.

Didn't realise we were so close to first place with distance, whilst had no hydration could have managed another easy hr to get us over the line as was so much fun.  Easy to say now but woulda, coulda, shoulda checked the numbers before heading out but today was completely unexpected.  Bonus, will sleep well for sure.

Windxtasy/Anita...I was gliding along at 31.26 knots when I was lifted off the water by a gust and smashed into my rig at zero knots.  Thank God for crash hats and impact vests.

Ah ok, that’s fair enough, pretty much any decent 33 is going to be better than the FF22 uphill. As for the polishing, once you go past #400 grit, I have no evidence to support continued attached flow/improved lift so I am not sure on the outcome there, but I will be very happy hear the results of your trials. I would not fuss about the fin cant too much, I think it was Pacey(??) who tried out different cants and found it made very little difference if you were a few degrees either way.
