sboardcrazy (24381km): average 17kts - 24.06 range 17-31kts NW Squids Belmont Bay NSW, AU ( Marks point marina stats ) waterlevel 0 .105-0.167 deep enough to sail almost everywhere with a 18.5cm fin 6.2m M2 OD - 80ltre iso- 18.5cm Atomic nuclear weed ( 1st go) then 5.5m Mach2 few runs as it died. Squids 2 sec PB - 5 x 10 PB alpha Pb and nm.. Boy that was great! I didn't take the 70ltre Patrick as it's always been patchy wind in there but it was consistently strong today and it would have been perfect! Boy the Iso 80 is easy to break 30kts and also a lot more forgiving of dodgy gybing technique than the WT. I'll have to get more practise gybing the WT in flatter water as I know when you get it right it feels unbelievable and really slices around. The iso wears me out in chop though.. Got the best speeds when it first came in as the chop was smaller ( 4 -6inch triangular ) ranging to 10inch- 1ft. First time I've used the Atomic. It was great in the chop and faster than the FF. It did spinout once but it needs sanding as the back of the fin was sitting up several mms. I don't think a Delta or Kestrel would be much good there when it's strong but a FF or something that holds in chop is great. I was pushing it a bit going in really close to the shore trying to get some flatter water. I can stop the WT pretty fast but the Iso was abit harder to pull out quickly ( lost the technique) so I had to do a few impressive emergency stops.. One I skipped along the top of the water on my back in front of the mast ( still in the rear strap) before I stopped it.. The area between the point and Marks Point was getting some good wind but it had 10inch to 1 ft triangular chop so no good for me for speed. I wore myself out and came in to get some food and decided to rig down to have a bit easier time. By the time I went back out it was dying. Nice to catch up with Pugs who got out for a few runs just as it was dying..Only me and a foiling kiter who was out in the deep. I had the shallows all to myself until Pugs came out. Unusual , for once the graph said buggerall while it was blowing really well. It's great to have a fun spot in a big NW..
