991 days ago 10-22kts few puffs more NW Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU- Marks point 15-21kts av - range 15-31kts but it wasn't getting into Squids
Low tide 0.3m- 9.37am
water level 0.087 - too shallow to go more than halfway in with an 18.5cm fin
5.5m Mach2- 80 iso- 18.5cm Atomic nuclear weed
Well that was disappointing..After a PB session last time I went in with expectations that were too high. It looked promising - flatter than last time , similar wind on the meter at Marks Point but the wind wasn't getting into the 'flats'. It was also 10cm shallower so the areas I was using last time were too shallow. Add 8 or 9 kites right in the middle of where I wanted to bear away and forget it..
Note to self- don't go to Squids on a weekend, especially if it's 25 degrees +..
I rigged down as I wanted to get some gybe practise. I'm starting to get a bit better but still rusty. Still I feel good that I went for it powered in the choppier sections..Hard to get a powered entry and exit though..
On and off the plane and not that powered on a few bearaways I tried.
The best wind was over near Marks Point where I was gybing. I wasn't going in that close but it may be worth a look . If it's deep enough it could get some flatter water.
A better day to just mow the grass out in the deeper water. Next time it's a bit patchy I might rig the WT and go out in the chop.
I think rather than expecting Squids to be a Budgy substitute I should just look at it as a safe place to sail Westerlies. I'm getting sick of sailing a small area. I want to feel free out in the middle again..
Just me with Mark and Maree out later as I took a break.
