Melville Beach, WA, AU

very brief sail in between kid duties

really keen to try out a new fin and harness.

arrived to see sailors wallowing could of rigged a 8.6 but opted for a seven.

as i hit the water the wind came in prob 20kn plus- giving me too much sail, could of been on

a 5.5.

fun all the same.

Did the mission to Benders local - Leshenault Inlet.

rigged 6.6 and 5.8 Koncept 2012 with 08 SXS and my relic Kinetic 52. - 30 falcom and KA assy 23. Had a great sail and hooked a few good gusts with the small kit when the squalls came through.

Great sail with Bender, Elmo, Decrep, Adam, JJ, Macca and many others - well worth the 90 minute drive!

Melville cos it was 6 minutes away and couldnt be arsed wasting 3+ hours in the car to head south. Got there as it was pissing down and the wind dropped out- but expected it to come in. Rigged spanking new 6.4m Evo4 because I just had to. Wind was up and down, got one nice gust on the Mistral 112 with 35cm fin for a 37.8 on the dial. Water was pretty flat. Sailed in to put on the Mistral 91/KA30 because there was some nice gusts coming through, missed them and it dropped out again. Came back in so I grabbed the Mistral Speed 47 with my CL/Curtis 26 because it really was time to get some ks on this thing. Stoked! Got a heap of 37s and 38s on the dial in the small gusts coming through, and still managed to stay on the plane most of the time. It dropped out so came in for a rest (after a few submarine moments) and then another gust came through. Just long enough to tack up to the run... and then it died again. Was about to pack it in, semi satisfied with some 38s, considering I didnt get powered up, but a bit spewing to see the gusts there but not be in the right place for them. Then the rain came back and the wind swung to the WSW. Finally some wind came through in squalls hitting 25+, but it was really gusty with some viscious chop which is normal for that wind direction. No flat water when it swings. I was pretty confident in the gear so let it rip and got a couple of sick on edge runs through the guts of the river. Fastest run was heading to the posts at Majestic point in the middle of the river for a 38.3kt 10 sec. Thats probably as fast as I've ever been there. Nice to be powered up. Loving the combo- it just wanted mooooar. Cant wait to get out on this setup again.
