Safety Bay, WA, AU

Only a couple of windsufers and half a dozen kites. Bit gusty in the pond and pretty rough out the back. Bit surprised with the alpha, thought i nailed a few good ones but obviously went a bit wide.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Got down early and the wind didnt seem strong on shore until I got out on the 6.6m. Got back to shore and quickly changed down to the 5.5m. Very gusty with some huge but short gusts.

First time to try the Tribal ws fin and it worked a treat (thanks Slowboat). Took Tim's advice and tried bearing away more on a big gust rather than sailing through it. To my surprise got 30 knots! Cool I put it down to the new fin, bearing away more, the relatively flat water and the big gusts. all the stars aligned lol.Laughing

A late start at Melville and seemingly missed the bigger gust on offer earlier. Did manage to get a few nice runs in over the sand bar which was DELICIOUSLY flat. Was abit underdone with the 6.4 and stood around alot waiting for the gust. In my top 3 for 2s and top 5 for Alphas so quitely happy with that.

Melville must have missed everyone else. 6.6, mistral 112, weedy. Nice to get out and there was even some sunshine. tried a slightly different combination with the mast and it wasnt a success. I think long bottom short top works better, need some new tape on the sail. Got some good info on tuning from Chad.

Woohoo Ken. Big congrats on crashing the 30 knot barrier and more PBs. Welcome to the dirty 30s. Nice speed Craig. I thought about trying SB today but the storm surge looked liked the beaver might be better for a surf than the speed run.

Great work Ken! As a recent convert to the 30 club myself it feels good to see a 3 at the start of your post instead of a 2 doesn't it? Now I guess we chase the 30 5x10 Smile

Thanks everyone. I actually was starting to think 30 knots was physically impossible due to being a flyweight. Laughing yes 30 5x10 would be a the next goal and to make sure today wasnt a fluke. Also a 20+ alpha would be nice.Smile

Nice Alpha Tim and Lunny impressive as usual.

Well done Ken - you've knocked off the first milestone quickly Cool

If speed is your thing look at getting a weight jacket - a couple of extra kgs will probably convert to an extra couple of knots of speed (especially at your weight) Smile

Well done Ken! I think it took me about three years to get over 30 knots! ( I spent a whole year in the 29's)

Good to hear there is some flat water at last. Nice Safety Baay speed Lunny, and good backup from Flatchat.
