Out with Woody in search of some flat stuff. Got the best out of the first run as the high tide and surge chopped things up for decent speed.

Showed Woody the Chook pond where it was also pretty rough and gustier in there.

Good to catch up with Col who came for a look. Trust me Col it was rough today compared to normal.

Hopefully the stars will align soon so there isnt so much storm surge, feels like ages since the smooth stuff.

Melville Beach, WA,

No pbs today except a rigging Pb with Lunny coming as I arrived in to casually mention a 39 something. He suggested we tack upwind to the Chook Pond a place of a few speedsters so I was pumped.  It looked inviting so tacked again up into what was a choppy lake to make for the speed run coming back next to the weed bank. Must have been close to 30knots so was overpowered in the chop. Had a few short runs down the bank coming out of the chop. I can imagine in low water it would be paradise. The 1st reach out of the pond seemed as fast as in the pond. 3 top 10 secs were reaching back. Must have been hungry.

Conditions looked great whilst I was rigging up but by the time I hit the water there was more holes than gusts.

Still happy to have the sun out for the session.

Rigged up the new 5m sail anticipating full on frontal winds. Got out and floated around for a bit until the wind booted in. Confused chop over the sand bank and the wind swung a bit south. Happy with the new sail as it is light and fits on the wave boom and mast. Only a few others out enjoying the sunshine including Jeff and Boz.

Well done Craig Cool

Boz mate, what are you thinking, cold, choppy and not bad in the middle, what's wrong with a port and a nice fire Laughing

I rolled up at Melville after work but most were coming in after deciding the gusts didn't justify the lulls, so I decided to stay warm and dry. The wind continued to die, so it was the right decision.

Bravery award to all those who ventured out today. It was cold.

This high speed chop sailing is the business, awesome stuff. Everytime you post Lunny there is a 25kt alpha, you are a machine.

JJ, cheers. It was like survival mode most of the time. Very onshore with tricky shore break.

Jase Id like to call it a loop but probably a half loop onto my back! Embarassed

Lunny, nice Alpha in the chop. Sorry for the feeble backup.

Nice speeds Lunny Cool

I couldn't muster the enthusiasm for a cold, gusty, and choppy WSW at Melville.  WSW is the worst direction there for chop!

Bring on a nice WNW with a lowish tide please Huey Kiss
