Pelican Point, WA, AU

Rigged up and got stung by a bee - hmmm ... still alive so went sailing. Started out tame and ended up gusty and very choppy thanks to the super yachts getting into position for the fireworks tomorrow.

Arrived to 15-18 knots and plenty of pinnas and locals getting ready for the session. Rigged the 7 and used the Manta 61 and a wp 24. Hadn't used this combinatin before but it felt great with a little more downhaul after a few runs. Set out to practice some Uturns and go for the hour and was happy the body obliged with an improvement in results. That was a top 10 day straight up. A steady breeze in paradise & great company. Feeling young again. Happy days Smile

I put the old, fat board in the car for a bit of fun and then got the call that an M2 sail was in stock so frantically headed over to Revolution BoardSports to pick it up and then drove to Coodanup even more frantically to try it out. It felt fantastic after some help from Mike and Nina setting it up (I've never used a cammed sail). Caught up with some Pinnas and had a beer with Woody and Lunny. Boz was going back and forth like a metronome.

Arrived at Fangys just as the rest of the Pinnas came down in car loadsLaughing Even Fangy gave me a royal wave as he was going past, strange though it was a two finger wave, the other 3 fingers must have been tired. Just a great cruisy day with a lot of people out enjoying the flats. Should have rigged the 7.1 but couldn't be bothered as today it was just nice to plod

Well that was my first time and it was bloody fantastic. The potential is mind blowing compared to the conditions I'm used to. I  wasn't powered up but managed some great runs.

Special thanks to Fangman who lent me ( I want it ) a Fangy fin that behaved flawlessly. I bounced off the bottom a few times, cranked it upwind and even through chop and it didn't flinch. I checked it after the sail and it was unblemished. Brilliant. Great job Ross a work of art.

And a great bunch of people to sail with in a beautiful spot. Great vibe and doesn't get any better. ( Apart from 5 knots more wind)

Thanks to all  for the 'truthful' info about where to sail

Never felt quite right today. Tried alot more downhaul than usual, but I can safely say that was a fail. I don't want to make excuses, but the water was heavy, wind fickle and fin must have been in the wrong bag. Was it fun? ok just a little bit. On a big positive, the gopro was used to hopefully capture some sizzling gybing action with a contender for "Send it Sunday" on video. He shall remain anonymous but he is known to have an element named after himCool.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Expected to be rigging for light wind but by the time I got to Melville things had picked up. Rigged the 7M and bigger board with a pointer and headed off to do an hour. Lots of stink boats kicking up chop all afternoon didn't help. Tried to finish the hour off with a downwind run to dalkieth but with the bigger board it was slow going through the chop so headed back and changed down to the isonic. Had a play for a while, ventured to point walter but the wind was pretty light there so headed back to Melville. Conditions were getting better and better. Stopped to phone my lovely wife who gave orders for me to get back out on the water until the sun came down. No point arguing so headed back out so enjoy the flat water on the sandbar with fantastic gusts that were slowly swinging SSE until the sun disapeared and the wind followed shortly afterwards.

Dutchies

20-25 knots and big windswells. Heaps of stringy weed made control a little harder but didn’t actually drop the foil.

Awesome fun downwinding.

Congratulations on three very healthy PB's Scott. Well done! That is an interesting nm run. I think it may become more popular! Were you going east to west or the other way?

Thanks - I remember that NM. I was heading east and then had to round up to avoid the sand bank.

Congrats all on the PBs. Keeping me busy. All PBs checked. Wow Scott there are so many lime stone rocks on that side of the river by the freeway. My friend hit one and had a 2 hour swim and walk back to melville. Surprised

I have already had a grumpy old man whinge to Neil for inviting all his riff-raff mates down and tearing up the place. Both Melville and Fangiessuffered a drop in average IQ and Good Looks yesterday! Foot in mouthLaughing

Super sweet PB's Mark! Kudos to me for forecasting Neil would get a PB today, but well done anyway Neil for doing one on the water for a change...Tongue out  Congrats to SRS and Cannonball too, at least you had the decency to stay at home.  Grudging respect to all you Peskies that were on my patch - really nice sailing fellas with a nice set of numbers across the board. Cool
