Seaside Park, NJ, US  WWN 16-38 Ml., iSosnic W54, Point-7  5M., mxr-fin UFO Wide 18CM.

Another learning session - First run and crush on 32knots.

Result: First run -> crush on 32knots speed -> twisted front strap ankle, and rib number 8 fracture -> urgent care -> x-ray -> inflated medical boot -> ice packs 10 min every 30min -> Tylenol (no blood thinner), incentive spirometer  to prevent pneumonia  -> no windsurfing for month or two.

Lesson-conclusion for speedsurfing newbies: Do not go for speed on first run before you tuned up the harness lines, and on new equipment (I used 18cm. fin first time) in gusty wind conditions.

Loft RB 7 Naish SP95 Vector Volt 29

A touch windier than yesterday but loads of river traffic. Kiters everywhere and not many looking where they are going. Nice using them as jibe marks and admiring the kiter girls in their summer outfits!

Nice day at Fogland with Dani, Sabah and Fred. All looking good out there!

It was kind of unusual NW direction blowing 15 to 35+ knots. Sailed the North side of the point where decent size swells where pushed into the bay.......not the greatest set up for speed, but definitely good times.

Rookie mishap occurred to me today - i tried to sail with the fin cover on......that's not that easy!!

board - iSonic 94

sail - MS TR9 6.3

fin - Tectonic Talcon 34

Barnstable Harbor, Cape Cod, with Nina and Dean. Checked it out at low tide, wind was strong and constant. When we got back to start sailing a couple of hours later, the wind had dropped and developed big holes. Stuck to my freestyle gear since I had not brough the big slalom board. Still was a lovely 6.0 session. For once, Nina was powered in BH, and hacked away at Flakas. Dean was on 7.0/Falcon 111, but probably won't post since he did not break 30 knots.

Cool Beautiful Barnstable Harbor, sailing with Peter and Nina!

Sailed with a broken finger after removing 7 stitches... purple and sore today!
It was mostly a paranoid "feeling it out" day for me. I ran aground several times and almost hit a submerged concrete post.
Tough sledding in unfamiliar waters, but still fun with my big gear.
Winds and water were not good for speed runs, but on the bright side... we did not break anything. (sorry Al...)

Al, OUCH Cry. 1 -2 months!! Hope the pain is minimal and the pneumonia is never occurs. Congrats on the PB although I suspect that is not much consolation...

Lesson-conclusion for this speedsurfing newbie: I think 28 knots is controllable and just fine, thank you...

Alsosnoff,

but you scored a PB... that is some consolation at least.

I always find my first run is the fastest. You have to go for that first run.

Sorry to hear of your mishap. I hope you heal quickly!

Alex, looks like you've got pretty fast fin, congrats on PB. Sorry to hear about injury, broken rib is not fun. I've had the same thing 3-4 years ago, trying to do a slingshot when it was really choppy.

Hope you'll have a quick recovery and get back on the water soon!

Al, congrats on your PB. As much as I'd love to get 35 knots, I think the price is a bit high! Hope you get better soon.

So sorry Al... "If you want to dance, you have to pay the fiddler".
Don't hurry back and re-injure the ribs like I did in Hatteras!
Get better and keep improving those numbers.

Bart, I feel your pain. Left my fin cover on at Doug's Beach in the Gorge. Much to the delight of several locals.
It must have been fun at Fogland! Barnstable was beautiful, but not for speed.

Cool

Way to go Al...a PB on 2 secs. I think the 18 may be a bit small for that board, 21 to 24 cm would be a better fit and less likely to let go. I'm sure you will come back fitter and stronger after your recovery.....40 knots isn't far away now.
