Pyramid Lake, NV, US

The first session in 2017, forearms gave up after a very first run. It was around 50 degrees and sunny, I felt really warm in my new 5/4/3 wetsuit and 5mm booties. Unfortunately, the wind today was pretty shifty and gusty, not a good day but good enough to start with.

First session this year. Wind was pretty much unsailable and water was really cold, it felt something like like 40 degrees. Still fun to get out and mark the start of the season :)

Nice to see you getting out, How high is the water level in the lake after the record breaking rainfall and snow this winter? The tracks on KA72 show you a lot further up the beach than normal. Whats the water temp with the snow runoff?

Water level at Pyramid is still the same as it was in the fall. Truckee river was flooding twice this winter and all beach access roads around Pyramid are washed out with run off water but somehow water level in the lake didn't change at all. Washoe on the other hand is as full as can be already and there is a big chance that paved parking lot will be under water once snow starts to melt. Water temp at Pyramid probably around 45 degrees, it's hard for me to say because I couldn't really feel it in new wetsuit and booties. When I got some water on my forehead it was like brain freeze.

Not so fast Peter! We just got snowed in overnight....again. No telling when this weather pattern is going to end.

Better keep that speed kit ready at the beach :)
