A morning sesh at the Pit with not a lot of wind, rigged the 6.6 hoping the wind would fill in as forcasted. Not Yell Lots of weed in the water made it hard to push on the fin. Chased Matt and Daffy around for an hr untill the tide pushed us out. Rupert had just turned up so off to Invy for a smash and bash session as the wind had now kicked in. Really rough with the high tide, but a good wind strength. Managed to get a better Alpha than the one at the Pit in smooth water. Weird. The 2 and 5x10 were only just slower too. Great fun.

Pit - Gillis 55/ Torquay 38/ KAkrx 5.8

More warm & sunny Victorian weather. Interesting exercise with the big fin using spare lift to raise the board to find best efficiency.

Invy - Torquay 49/ Lessacher 22/ Prisma 4.7 (too small) then Kaos 5.3

Fun in the bumpy stuff but ran out of body. 52 km at Pit & 20km at Invy, all other results from Pit.

Nice to have a day off during the week to play in the PiT with a few of my mates. Wind dissapointing though. Tried a 5.8m Koncept on IS87 and Select 34 to start but got nowhere. Walked back and rigged 6.6m Koncept on IS111 with Drake 44 and started a 1 hr. Thought it might be around 20-21 knots. After 15 mins the wind picked up and I saw that Mat was going well (faster then me) in his 5.8m Koncept. I did a quick pit stop and grabbed the is87 and 5.8m that was lying conveniently on the bank and kept going. I was immediatly a bit faster and could stay planing out of the gybes, but I kept catching weed on the fin. Very frustrating. It pulled my speeds back about 2-3 knots. It's a delemma. Do you stop and back up the fin on every 3rd ot 4th gybe and lose distance, or just press on at a slower speed? I tried both. After clearing the fin it was like I suddenly had a tubo. But it would only last 2 or 3 legs and I was dragging again. I had intended to go a full hour after I changed gear but I realised Mat and Craig were doing better than me so I stopped after I hour including the gear change. I should have known better and used the weed fin.

God to see the other guys got us in the hunt again though. Smile

Wave gear at Beaumaris.  Rough with big breaking waves and for the second week in a row I got taken out by a breaking wave on the reef and worked!!!

Mallacoota, VIC, AU

The day promised so much bit delivered so little. Blinding rain, the tide did not drop 1mm from high to low tide so leaving the strip submersed by a good 30cm of water making the run the roughest we have encountered.

Very disappointed as we waited for the low tide late into the afetrnoon that didn't eventuate. A big blow that totally went to waste.FrownCry
