Sandy Point, Vic.

It was an unusual forecasts for a rare SSW wind, and the forecast was quite right. There was a high degree of uncertainty about the wind strength and it didnt turn out anywhere near as strong as some forcast models predicted. 20-25, gusting 30, but it died back quite quickly in the early morning. That was OK though as the tide was coming in fast and we escaped just in time at about 10am.

I was up before first light but a bit slow to get going. Started rigging just before sunrise and on the water about half an out after sunrise - not that we saw the sun at any time.

It was surprisingly warm at 16+ degrees, which was a nice surprise, as the forecasters were predicting under 12 degrees. It's also nice that the water is still quite warm. Smile

I had a few runs on the speed board on Port tack but it was either not quite strong enough, or too tight so the speeds were less than hoped for.

It quickly became apparent that the wind was moderating so Craig and I went back for larger boards. I took the JP54 SL but the 21 Tribal Weedspeed felt too small. I switched to the TM26, but it still felt underpowered. The combination was not working well in the dying wind so after I while I packed it in.

Craig decided to go back to Andersons Inlet as the tide chased us out.

CA40/Vector18cm weed speed, and JP SL54/Tribal 21 weedspeed, then TM26. 2017 KA Koncept 5.4m. GPS - GW-52.

Sandy Point, Vic, AU

A dawn attack at the Pit with Matt and Daffy. Was going to go all day but I ran out of willing team members to join me Tongue out so I cut this session a bit short and returned to Invy.

Speeds were done on the Ca40

Everything else Sl52 with a 5.8 Koncept

Second Session

Where the Pit was nice and flat......Invy was NOT. Some of the roughest conditions that I,ve sailed there. SSW wind, high tide going out, swell coming in and wave reflections going back out Cry Perfect training day Wink

The SL 52 and its build quality continues to amaze me even after all these years of sailing it. It was bought second hand, has completed two world records, numerous sessions in ocean, chop and flatwater and yet it still sails fast. I hit a piece chop so hard that the board stopped planing and everything vibrated. I was sure that I had cracked the board as it hit between the footstraps. Not a mark....Thanks James for your attention to detail. Cool

Invy speeds

2sec 32.268......5x10 sec 30.592......1Hr 14.88.......A 23.271......NM 25.849......D 53.109
