Vonpat (2886km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU Squally cold wet conditions. Wasnt going to go out but glad i did, it was to rough to go to hard so was suprised to get what i got. I hope i dont bring the average down to much for the Northern contingent who i am tipping was warmer than me even though he forgot his wet suit!!!!! Hopefully will be sailing an unknown spot tommorow so watch this space. | ||||||||||||||||||
Sailquik (29582km): Budgewoi Lake. NSW :-) Great fun. I was a bit underpowered for the first few runs and was barely about to top 34 knots. Later the wind kicked a bit and got to around 30 knots. which was a lot nicer. :-) I could not quite crack a 40, but it was pretty close. While rigging up, I discover I could not find my Tribal delta 14cm. So I had to go with the 12cm. Talk about a baptism of fire!! I was unsure what to expect but I was extremely pleased. Upwind was not too bad considering the very small size, and it was very difficult to spin out. I only did it a couple of times when I bounced out if the water. On the runs it was super nice. The bad part was not being familiar enough with the area to know I was about to exit the flat water and hit 1 foot chop at top speed. Very siddenly! Bailed out both times. Yes, it took me a repeat to learn. Even with that fin the biggest weedbergs grabbed me pretty hard. Interesting! Sice I was oldbrained and left my 4x3mm steamer at home, I used ny 2mm with a t-hirt 1mm vest under it. It was fine for the first hour, but I started shivering bad for the last bit. I didn't want to stop though as that was when the wind licked in. Eventually, I ran out of energy or fitness, or both and had to come in. I fitter sailor could have been out for at least another couple of hours in very good wind. Lots of great company, Sue, Mark, Dion, Andrew, Matt, Geoff, Rod and Bill. A great adventure. Is a group of Koncept sails called a "Congromeration of Koncepts" ? LOL1 CA40, 2019 KA Koncept speed 5.2, Tribal Delta 12cm.
