Fun sail, but the wind was weird. We felt powered up on the run in but marginal on the speed course. The angle seemed good but i think the wind was just too light for the angle we were able to run. 3 or 4 times I heard the highest speeds on the bearaway onto the speed bank and then the speeds dropped.
The wind was forecast to be 25-30kts plus higher gusts. It was more like 20-25 with slightly higher gusts very rarely.
We rigged for the forecast but before we went out it looked lighter so we swapped the speed boards for the Slalom Boards. That was a very good move, but we both shought we could have done with the next sail size up.
sailed from 5.45pm until 7.40pm when it was clear the wind was easing.
The very first full run was by far the fastest and I was actually very surprised to see 38.8kts max on the Logit screen, The GW60 said a rediculous 39.2! Rubbish!
We both commented on how easy that run was and how we were surprsed at the speed! Pity we didnt get more wind like for that run. But, again the Atomic weapon slalom fin felt great - untill we hiy some clumps of floating weed and cataputed over the front. We were both convince that it would have been easily possible to crack 40 on the slalom boards with another 5-10 knots of wind. Kato is now on a mssion to do just that! LOL!
