well that was fun(i think)

a very gusty sail at benderland nth.

tried to get right up near buffalo rd but pretty weedy in there so had to stay a bit wider

used a iso 86 with a 25 vector weedy and a 5.6 severne r1.

nice to sail with dave and chris from busso

and the slasher dropped in a bit later.

Caught up with Dave, Chris, John and Ratz.

Rob and Dave went out and had some good runs in very bumpy and howling conditions.

I eventually braved it and got slaughtered after just two runs in some massive gusts, thrown over the handlebars 3 times hurt my leg not the third one that had gone off somewhere safe!! and then banged my head, the latter making no differenceTongue out

Great fun , the lighting was scary but!!

Decided to head to Boombas when I eventualy finished work as the wind seemed to be consistantly nw. main mission was to give the new sail a go.  Is it normal for KA sails to be miles out with their settings, needed to set the boom 7cm shorter than printed on sail and the extension 4cm shorter. In the gusts sheets of spray were blowing off the top of the white caps and in the lulls I could hardly get going. Managed a few short runs and attempted one jybe. The sail behaved realy well but the chop in the high low tide was super scary. Got a peak of over 32 but it felt so much faster. After a few minutes of trying to hold the board and sail on the water as a squal came through I decided there is no shame in wimping out and saving myself for tomorrow.

R-soles, Isonic 87, Simmer Wave 5.6, slingshot 23 Only got to midway down my second run before I had a fairly large wipeout that snapped my mast in 2 places and ripped the mast plate box out of the board! No real damage to myself so I made the long walk back to recover my board and set up for another crack. Isonic 110, Gator 5.3, slingshot 23 then Maui pointer 30 Got back out on the water but made some real schoolboy errors with fin selection and setup so really struggled and actually found it. Lmost imposible to get into the speed run for a fair while. Once I had changed the fin and made some other adjustments I was able to get on the run however I had taken a fair knock to my confidence by this point so couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger with the big board. Another real learning curve today and again big respect to the guys laying down some huge numbers in tough conditions.

A quick after work sail at my local, Fangy's to test out the filleted delta (thanks Captain).  Will post a write up on the fin on Seabreeze after a shower and supper.

That was fun, but mostly I was so over done on the 6.0.  Found a great spot along the Creary Lagoon bank.  Wish I had rigged at the top car park, not down at S-bend and I should just have taken the speed board and a smaller sail. Would just have to walk out a bit but on a 5.0 and my speedy I think the numbers would have been much better. Wind was fine out there, but super gusty on the inside.

Manta 86, HSM GOS 6.0 and fresshly filleted delta 21

I checked out The Creery end with Sludge mid morning. There were some wild bullets going through, but the water state didn't look too bad if you were brave enough to take on the gusts. Respect to all you fellas that went out! Cool

Providing I can clean up my royal collection of tiara's in time, and grow a backbone as well - yes I will be there. I have PB and TT FF 20cm to try out Laughing

R-soles lives up to its reputation John - still big kudos for trying, and not injurying yourself in the process. ( goes for Swindy and Sludge who had big offs too)

I had some time so went had a look at R-Soles, snaped from the other side (pub side), enough water, found a way to the shore Wink

Shots not the best, hard to keep steady with that much wind coming on your face!! I mesured 26 knts in gusts.

I went past R-Soles on the train on my way home from the city at about 3:10. I could see one orange sail.   Was standing up and gawping made me even more frustrated to get on the water.

Well done to those that gave it a crack they sound like pretty hectic conditions, good to read that none of the wipeouts resulted in injury.
