Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU

would like to say i sailed like gumby today but i think that would be

a insult to gumbys sailing ability.

could just not get my shit together and never felt very comfortable.

used a 7.0 severne R8 on 102 rrd x fire with a 23 muf delta and a mistral 55 speed with a 25 vector ws.

nice to sail with noel and rob though.

rob was flying as usual.

Feels like a day of missed opportunity today, and it also felt like hard work out there, not enjoyable more like a job.  Apparently some boyz have done very well, looking fwd to seeing and reading their posts, I made lots of poor decisions today and feel like I let my team mates down todayEmbarassed.  I kept spinning out again today, I think my fave fin has to be retired.  Well done Sammy who's runnig into some form, and our inspirational captainCool.  Looking fwd to my next wsurf, which will be focussed on enjoyment and not performanceCool

Mistral Speed 95/55.  TR16 6.3m  Pepeweed 20/48 now about 18.5 and with a very blunt leading edge, I think I have to retire my fave finYell

Good times with The Three Stooges together again. Or maybe that should be Dumb, Dumber and me. In any case, I joined Sludge and Swindy at S-Bend for some pre-lunch pontification and poor forecasting. I decided on the Vintage Windtech, KaKoncept 6.6 and FF20. Dumb and Dumber rigged some stuff as well, but sneakily whacked in FF24’s and proceeded to carve me up big time on the uphill legs. As a consequence, I fiddlefarted around with my settings for most of the session, trying to get comfortable and  keep up.

I never got it right and by the time Tea was called, I was worn out. I decided to chuck in the Barge and FF24 combo and just have a relaxing sail for the rest of the day. That was much easier and a little surprisingly, the Barge produced the best speed results. Three metres of board at 36 knots, ya gotta love the big, overweight, old girl :-)

Happily Basil joined in and I was able to repay all his recent kind commentary by cutting him off, dumping on him, and also a quick spray as well. By this time a fair old mob of the usual suspects were on water and it was great to catch up with Pepe again. I did a bit more charging around on the Barge but pretty quickly I was spent like a spawning salmon and I went back to the beach to flop exhausted on the shore.

Everything aches now, so it must have been a Top Ten Fangy Day :-)

Tabou Manta 54, NP RSR E6 6.4, Pepe weed 23.5

That was a bit better unfortunately missed the best wind by an hour still had a lot of fun.

Chose the right fin today made life a lot easier, session would have been awesome IF I had have rigged the 7.0 instead of the 6.4, oh well shouldacouldawoulda. It was great fun.

Got some nice squirts through the Pt Grey snot and a few nice corners as well.

Good times

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. CA52/HSM6.0. Fun sail with Noel and not so Gumby Rat. Good wind, but I think not quite enough for a 40. Chucked on the CA47 at the end but no improvement. Happy with the Nauty Smile

Peel Inlet, WA, Liptons

Great solid day with Mike, then Strop, Paul, Hardie and Elmo.. Cool

Bit disapointed with my hr..I suppose at first I was not power on the 5.8, then full lited by the end.. Alpha too, must be not far off (cant check!)

I changed to 5.4 after then wind dropped, so never lited on it Yell. I shld have stay on 5.8!! Still great fun with the boys at point grey Tongue out

Got on the speed board after so long.. you really need wind, and not gusty like it can get at Liptons!!

Good backup from Mike Wink, at the end it wasnt easy ah ah ah

Coodanup, WA, AU, Patrick 92, Warp 6.3, kestral 22 Wow what a great session. I went out and did my first 80kms without stopping including a fair few alphas and a nauti went in to have a quick chat to Pas and Roger so as not to seem completely anti-social. As soon as everyone was gone the wind finnaly showed up and I went from 35knts to 38s. Prettty happy with the naughti as the wind direction was a bit broad to get the best out of the water conditions and I had to continue into the chop to ensure I made it. Super stoked with the alpha as I have been putting a lot of work into my gybes lately.

Coodanup, WA, AU    Pat 100/87,   KAR 6.3,   FF22/20

Rocked up at fangyland shortly followed by slugger then the King himself. Thanks for the coffee Sludge. I was going to rig the 7.1 and the 6.3 but decided to rig the 6.3 first which paid off because the wind picked up just as Iain and Joe arrived. Plan was to go for a decent hour some alphas and a bit of distance.  The wind wasnt realy that solid early on but after the first outing guestimated between 23 and 24 hour.

Second outing alot of stopping and just racking up a bit of distance and some decent alphas. Coming into my best alpha of the day Fin must have thought I was his arch rival Basil catching him so he made me go much further into the weed than I wanted to and probably cost me a Jelly bean and a PB. That was a pretty slick jybe you done there Fin. All this time Jonski was flying arround up wind and down doing some sweet looking jybes in the flat and out in the chop. This man is getting seriously good and I am sure that elusive 40 is not far for him. When I left he was still going having a great time.

Top ten everyone day I think

Started the day at Liptons with Sammy in the morning, tried for an hour, on the 53, 5.8 and 24cm weedy.  I found I need yet another fin. The 24 has only got a 43deg rake and picked up weed in my first gybe, so back to base for the 19@55, this was great in the weed but horrible in the channel, slowed me down quite a bit, but thought I'd done better than 21. Joined by Hardie, Elmo, Strop and Paulo in the arvo rigged the 5.4, 43 and the 20cm @ 40-60deg.

This fin is a compromise, works in the chop and weed, Not all that good for starting off in the weed in light winds, but once powered it's fine.

The wind had a fair bit of west in it so sailed PT grey, trying for 2s and 10s, wind dropped a tad, so then tried alphas in the weed, quite pleased to get the 25 on the speed board running square in thick weed.

I was hoping for at least a 38, 2s and a 36, 5x10, guess I wasn't all that far off, so I kept looking for that extra gust, but it didn't arrive. Did 54km in the morning on the big gear and 71km in the arvo on the speed board. I don't know how many waterstarts that was, but my arms and shoulders say a ^^%#@# lot!

Ok here's my Pt Grey tracks, thought I was fastest on Starboard, but my quickest run was on Port.

I wish the image was current and showed the weed bank. My fastest run must have been going through it, but I guess it peaked in a clearer patch, or just out of it.

I've just checked Stretch's NM and Jonski's alpha, seeing as how "up there" they both are, and they pass with flying colours. especially John's alpha.

Jonski's 27kt alpha

So if you want a 27kt alpha this is all you have to do, come in at 33kts and accelerate to the same speed on the way out.

The data is very clean, no loss of sats in the gybe, and the doppler and trackpoints only have a small divurgence, the SDoP values are brilliant +/- 0.093kt

And just checked with Jonski, this data is from a GW60
