Quick splash at Fangys before heading to Margaret River, for Mum's 97th birthday.

Great fun, lots of very flat water and some dead smoooth, a few weedburgs to avoid, but they are easily seen. Wind not strong but not too gusty either, so

tried for an hour. The wind died after about 3/4hr on the water, so I gave up. Fangy and Swindy still going, but slugger had beat me in.

Used the new 48, patched up 6.2 with the 20cm@55 deltoid. All good most of the time, but in a bigish gust tail walked and spun out landed in knee deep water under the sail, that was tring to push me into the mud, once my hands had found the mast I was OK, not a lot of grip on sailcloth.

Fangyland with Teletubbies and Cap' n Calm and then a couple of Nannas.  Post more later .

Teletubby toast was served at 8:30am, so I joined Cap’n Calm and the Teletubbies for a gasbag and a  splash in the new crop of Fangyland weed. Huey was a little complacent and took some time to realise that Cap’n Calm was on the plot, but as soon as we hit the water the wind dropped a few knots. I had decided to try out the vintage Missy Flow, mated with Koncept 7.5 and FF24, and given my winter momentum muscle build up, I was a bit lacking in the board volume stakes.

The first part of the morning was a bit marginal for me, but once Cap’n Calm went in and  packed up,  Huey settled down to providing a fairly decent spring time SSW breeze to run up and down the weed banks.  In fact, there is already a good chunk of weed to play in and on the lower tides it will be hard work ploughing through it without losing some speed. Given this was my first outing on the old Flow where I had footsteps in the right spot etc, I was a little heavy handed and had foot-work like Godzilla. I took some time to start to get the balance right, but towards the end of the session I had the settings starting to feel on the mark.  The FF24 felt a bit big in this board and it will be interesting to try the FF22 by comparison.  I pinged off some mast head video but its all pretty boring.  I will was trying to look at turbulence from the fin, but mostly just got a lot of video of my bald spot.

Sunshine, weed and a bit breeze, defo a Top Ten Fangy Day.

Coodanup, WA, AU  Pat SL 92 & 115, SCR 6.3, Swoody 22 & 26

Good mornings work with the usual under employed, I may have to go and do the real thing on monday now the heads improving again.

A bit under done on the 92 so went for volume instead of a sail change. Worked well most of the time but with the tide droping was starting to get a bit draggy and klumpy so headed for home.

Ross has seriously over done the fertilizer this winter as I cant remember there being that much weed this early last year.  At least the golf will be good again.

Coodanup, WA, AU. 7.2 tushingham 85l sonic with 22cm weed fin. nice day with a lot of weed had to walk a few hundred meters out just to get going. it was an ok day overall nice 27 knot gusts and a constant 20 knots so overall happy with my speed today I reckon I could have pushed it a bit more with a little less outhaul but I am happy with a quick and fun sail.

The Missy only looks like a toothpick when I am standing next to it Rog Laughing I reckon I could get a few more knots out of her yet, but I am mainly hoping to get some nice U turns on it. Speaking of U turns - you fellas did well and found some nice corners out of the weed! And excellent NM Sludge Cool

Thanks guys just hit the far side of Dawesville as I didn’t realise it got shallow so far from the bank. I had been having a good time up until then and even felt semi in control.

John I was only taking the piss the other day when I asked what you had broken. Honestly mate you didnt have to completely trash something EVERY time you go for a sail.

In the past year I have broken/snapped the following Boom x 3, Mast, extension, Deck plate x 2, Sail x 2 and now a board does this mean I’m finished and can just sail like a normal person 😂

Did damage the foil John?

No foil seems fine and the fin box which is original hasn’t moved at all so I doubt there would be any need for reinforcement on yours.

hey Daffy, the previous owner was a bit dodgy, but since I have been rigging it with the pointy end to the top, it seems easier to use. Laughing

I just drove past, it's a low tide at the moment and its already got a fair chunk of golf course green look to it. I am not sure whether it will extend as far East - West as last year, but certainly what we have so far is thick enough.

Its those do-gooder entomologists releasing dung beetles all over the place. They are burying the cow poo instead of leaving it to wash into the estuary and feed the weed.

"..do-gooder entomologists.." That has to be an oxymoron doesn't it? Tongue out
