iS97, 7.0 Blade, 35 S07 - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU ESE 20 -25 kn

Woohoo - what a way to spend my lunch hour (and a bit).    Was on my way to meeting in Rocky but got cancelled so decided to go for sail as a SE started kicking in. First half hour was great as the bay still had some order to it where I could get some decent lines between swells.  Last half was pretty tricky but knew I was punching out a pretty decent hour so really pushed it hard.  Felt really comfortable right up until the last 15 minutes when wind really started cranking.  NM was my last run and ended up with a lull where I only got 26kn.  My 900meters average speed was 30.8kn.  Still amazed at the numbers.  Reckon I could have got an hour PB if it wasn't for one small get off and a fluffed gybe (not concentrating - next time).

Finally an open ocean 30kn NM which I thought impossible here.  Smashed all my open ocean PB's apart from the Alpha and distance.  Second best hour and Nm, and third best 5x10 too so absolutely stoked.  Smiling like an idiot at moment.

Sorry Snags, not very good backup Embarassed hooked onto one good gust early on, where I got my 2 sec but a %&*$#*@$ kiter heading towards me and well upwind decided to do some kind of stupid cutback type of thing on the huge one foot chop (maybe to present his arse to me?) when about 50m between us, cutting me off so I had to pull out. After that the wind backed off and was full of holes.

Great ocean NM Saus!

It's not easy on either side of the country.

You must be knackered sailing a strong hour in the rough stuff.

Thanks guys.  In retrospect it was probably the most complete session I've strung together (baring the two dips in the drink).  I was pretty lucky that conditions hadn't deteriorated for the first half hour and the wind kept building consistently.

Gaz, Definitely feels better than my PB day at Burrum a year and a half ago although only got to share it with Pat Malone today (and a quick chat with Firie afterwards)

Have been quickly brought back to earth tonight with bathing kids, changing two shitty nappies and cooking dinner.  Geez I love it when they go to bed. Wink
