Stansbury, SA, AU Northerly 20-40knots

Sputnik 285, NP Raf supernova 5.4, 30 weedy

Looked at the weather forecast and thought you bewdy. Headed down to Stansbury and met Tricky and Pete at the beach and decided to rig the 5.4 as flat as a buiscuit. Good call to because some of those gusts were nasty shakers. The sea was almost flat enough for the big bearaway and a 34 on the first run was pleasing. I'm not sure if my 2 sec peak is faster than the time Choco did here earlier in the year but it must be close. Sailed around waiting for the tide to drop a bit more and rested a bit watching the others. Tricky was down the back of the park over the shallow( take a chance ) section with his Delta wing and I ventured down there and got a 36.97k 1 second peak, but then had to walk back a way to get fin clearance to take off. There is no doubt in my mind the Sputnik will do 40knots one day when all the planets line up.

cheersWink

Stansbury CA101 5Koncept 30LE Weedie, 28 Choco 19 Delta. The plan was rig the 5.8 & sail until the wind picked up or dropped off looking outside & looking at the forecast 20-25. Arrived at Stansubry to be greeted with 25+ so rigged the 5m Koncept plugged it & hit the water, a 20m run was way too long in those conditions with NO harnessEmbarassed back to the beach adjust boom height get harness & back at it! Water was as choppy as the tide was too high got my best run on the 30 LeadingEdge weedie before coming in to change to the choco 26 as I could not keep the board on the water (wrong board, left the smaller one homeFoot in mouth) That was worseCry now I couldn't keep the board on the water & spinning out crabbing side ways, Tried the Delta in the shallow water but just couldn't lock it down just tooo much board, tail walks or spin outs made for exciting sailing.

Boggy Lake, SA, AU

On the water just before 4 to join Carl who'd been tearing it up for over an hour.   surprisingly constant for a northerly.  got forty minutes on my 5.8 before the lightning rolled in, so we dragged our carbon lightning rods onto shore and hid out in the cars.  it passed overhead but took the wind with it.

i was upset at how little TOW I got, but another half hour and the nor-wester kicked.  so I took the 6.7 out and sailed til it dropped almost (but not quite!) an hour later.

Interesting arvo at Boggy lake with Trousers.  Heard on the news last night strong wind warning and storm warning.  Good recipe for a sail.  No one could come out so decided to take the gear to work anyway.  Got a late morning message from Trousers saying he could make mid arvo.  Checked the station at lunchtime and both Goolwa and Strath blowing mid 30'sSmile.  Guys at work said go - i didn't argueWink.  On the way down it was howling and a tree branch dropped in front of car and i run over it.  Checked under car and all good but hoped that was all the bad luck for today.  Got there to a 20 - 30 knot off shore northerly.  Good direction to head past the carpark.  Headed out on Isonic 86, 6m HotSail Maui 6m GPS and Black Project R325 - my favourite comboSmile.  Gusty at the start but 1st run mid 35 peak followed by a couple more.  Tried to head high up past the carpark but too gusty.  Ended up squirting out into the middle of the lake and soon saw a 36.7 on screen.  Meanwhile Trousers turned up so head in for a break and a catch up.

Decided to head out for a hour and 20 mins in there was a very dark black cloud heading for us and soon saw some massive lightning strikesSurprised.  Thought i wouldn't be a pussy and thought if Trousers heads in i will.  He did so i didSmile.  2 kiters were waiting to head out but thought the same as us - strangely being kitersWink.  Being from the darkside we suggested they head out - not reallySmile

We waited approx 1 hour and witnessed some special lightning strikes but meanwhile the rain started and ended the windYell.  I packed up and Trousers after only a short stint was keen to head out.  He rigged his 6.7 and by the time i packed up the wind re-appeared.  By this stage i had had enough and watched Trousers on some smoking runs and then left.  Great DaySmile.

Boggy lake - 20 - 30 northerly.

Isonic 86 / 6m Hotsail Gps and Black Project R325 and BOARDIESSmile.

thanks people.  surprisingly, I did my PB in the westerly, which was the lighter weather!  got to get better at my rig flip on the heavier race sail though, they were clunky yesterday and let me down.  something to work on next session.
