Area 45, Mahers Landing, VIC, AU

Xcite Ride 120, Tush 7.5, Venom 44

Wind NW - W 12 - 15 kts

Drift, Roy, Josh, Joel, Lozza, Ant

Short session for me  as over did it on Saturday playing farmer Joe.  Lots of muscle strain but thought a session of salt water would be a good healer.  Well after 40 Friday when the Pit crew blasted 40 kts plus at Area 45 todays session was a little sedate but magic still the same.

Going out the channel had a 2 ft rolling wave that you could surf onto the plane then a chequer pattern diamond chop then smooth as flat water.  Sailed the outer bank all day whilst the rest did the inner.  Interesting I was consistantly 2 - 3 kts quicker on the Port tack vs Starboard.  Do not know why?  Coming back in the chequer pattern diamond chop either knocked you off the board or rattled your teeth out before you attempted to battle the 2 - 3 ft rollers coming in.  Great to see Roy and the two boys Josh and Joel tearing up and down the strip.  But Josh you cannot go zooming past the President!!

Another great day at Area 45, CoolSteady 15 to 18 gusting 20 knots, started off NW swung West then South West. Sailed 3 seperate channels. Great spot. Finally got the NPMkIV 7.8 tuned properly. Not bad in 20 knots. Sized down to NP RS3 6.2

Will be difficult to repeat Micks airborne sub extravaganza. What a sight to see.Laughing

Roy, sorry if I scared you zooming past your clew.Embarassed

LOCATION:  AREA 45

WIND:  W-NW- 15-20 KT

TIDE:  OUTGOING

GEAR:  Sup12'6, CA FR77, C3 40cm, KA KONCEPT 6.4

DETAILS:  Great day playing on the banks.  Took the longboard out and did some upwind exploration of Treadwells Run before doing a downwinder back to the car park.  Decided to join the guys for a few quick blasts down the outer channel and clocked the Sup at 24.85 kts!....

The runs ended in some large standing waves (about 2 feet tall), so to hit them at ful pelt on teh longboard meant some serious air time.  Ant witnessed the landing...not too pretty when you dont have footstraps!.

After a brief rest, grabbed the CA and did a few runs on the outer bank before the wind shifted slightly to the W.  We then ran the Inner Bank.  The channel accross to the bank had some standing waves which were quite large.

The wind died for about 20 mins so Ant and I spent a while bobbing around...eventually it kicked back in but was patchy and moving more SW.

This place is amazing in terms of how many options there are for each wind direction....and we are still exploring!
