Another good sail but not much flat water low tide was pretty high & choppy but I'm trying to get better at sailing & gybing in rough water so it was good for that & I was pretty happy with results.

Lake Cootharaba, QLD, AU.really gusty wind, 5-25 knts, went out 1st on 6.5 aerotech, 108 JP,38cm select, sail was lifting me like a kite in the gusts, hung on 3/4hr then came in & changed down to 6mtr, sruggled still to hold it down in gusts, the chop was horrendous, like a washing machine. Hit a fish again, went over the front & put a 2" crack in nose. Switched to 52cm wide high wind slalom, much better in chop & gusts, couldnt get going in holes. Switched again to old 285 windaction, better all round but slow then wind dropped right out so gave up & came in. HAD BETTER DAYS!!!!!!!!

finally got my PC to actually work so I could post this.

Got out after work, couldn't believe I was actually getting to sail on a Fri avo. Huge thanks to Sean for the help with my sail, otherwise I wouldn't have got much time in at all. Due of course to me being the world's slowest rigger, as you all well know.

She was choppy out there, let me tell you.

I don't understand something though, I was getting frustrated Friday, because each time I looked at the GPS it told me my max was just over 20 knots?... (Which thoroughly confused me because it felt faster than that)

but now KA72 shows higher speeds? guess I should't argue with it ;)

Thanks Glynn, I fell straight off the back of the board a number of times, when I went for the back footstrap.

It was choppy as hell, really surprised by the data! my fin was too big as well, the 44 wasn't a good call.

But the sail was rigged perfectly, thanks to Sean ;)

Question - when do the jellybeans appear? they are for PB's right?

you get the colored balloons when one of your results have counted for the month.

Ahh, so I guess mine didn't / haven't - How does that work?

Hi RedJimi. The jellybean concept can be tricky to get your head around, but here goes:

1. There are 6 jellybean/balloon/balls up for grabs each month for each team.

2. Each of the 6 jellybeans relates to one of the 6 categories (columns at the top of the daily table of stats).

3. If for example we look at the red jellybean or 2sec peak jellybean, this is gained by the best average of the top 2 times posted on 1 day in the month, where the average for the day is better than any other day in that month. The same applies for each of the 6 jellybean categories.

So, let's say you sailed with Vando on the first of April and you were the only 2 sailors out on the day, you would share all of the jellybeans with Vando. If however only 1 sailor sailed from the team, no jellybeans are awarded as this is a "team" challenge. Let's say that Glynn then sailed with Vando on the 2nd of April. If their average score is in bold at the bottom of the daily stats table, then they have surpassed the previous best average for the month and they take the jellybeans. The scores at the bottom of the table are the average between the top 2 scores only, not the whole column of data.

Hope that makes sense!

Jamie just go fast, turn fast, go long and fast, go for a whole hour fast, go for a nm fast. Then just see what happens. If Glynn and vando break something you get a jellybean, dead simple

Flash well explainied :-)

RedJimi - tip don't look at the display at all, just turn on at start and end of a session and then check results later via KA72.com or whatever. Works for me as not particularly fast but do like long cruises subject to state of fitness levelsCool Seen odd person get so wrapped up in GPS that has destroyed their sailing enjoyment :-(

Thanks Flash, that makes sense. Sorry for the late reply. PJ good point, I have fallen into that category on more than one occasion ;)
