Sandy Point, Stonington, CT. Rigged when averages were mid-30s, gust high 40 (mph). The last forecast I had seen predicted just a small and slow drop in the afternoon. So the Koncept 5.0 seemed right for the wind. Started at noon, sailed upwind 1200 m to the sandbar, got there in 15 minutes. Then the wind dropped to below 20! It picked up a bit again 30 minutes later, gusting into low 30s. Got just a few barely powered runs in; caught one lucky gust just at the right time in flat water for the 2 sec top speed.

The spot has a lot of potential - 35 knots (and 40 knots for Dean) seem within reach at high tide if the wind is right. But Connecticut winds are notoriously unreliable.

A tad disappointed after 4 1/2 hours of driving, but it was great to sail a new spot in a short-sleeved 3 mm wetsuit. Temperatures this morning were close to 20 C Smile

coolRoad trip! tried a new spot for speed! Peter, Nina and I sailed out to Sandy Point to try our luck on foreign soil. My first run produced a PB max of 36.99 knots. I was thinking today is the day for 40 knts.... but it wasn't to be. Each successive run was slower and the wind dropped rapidly. By the time the others arrived, it was dead. I did manage a few runs before the drop off and realized the potential of this new spot. In a SSW wind, Sandy Point will kick butt! Loved it and can't wait to go back! Hopefully with steady wind lasting more then 40 minutes...   Tabou Manta 59, Maui Sails TR-8 6.3, Vector Weed Speed 27

That place looks awsome, good video.

2-3 hours drive is not that bad, so we're waiting PB record braking sessions from you...

Very nice speeds, Bart! Congrats to your distance PB. You and Dean should sail on the same day more often!
