Coal Point, NSW, AU

CA70 and 7.0

I sailed up to the slips and then had a rest before I started the hour.  The first 15 mins went well, heading slighlty off the wind. But then the wind became patchy near Coal Point, whilst over at the islands it was totally crazy one run was over 31 kts. Fell in near Coal Point which didn't help things and all the rest of my gybes were crap. Started heading further off the wind but the chop became even larger and more confused. It was a real battle to keep the runs around the 25 mark. Ended up near fishing point with no wind. Took me 30 mins to get back to the east side of the lake where it was still 25+. A qiuck blast around with Rus and then home to Coalie. Just in time for my wednesday night run. 7km slog around the hills of Cardiff.

Patchy 10-22kts NE Peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

6.2m OD - 79ltre falcon - 25 BP weedspeed ( 20cms)

then 6.6m KA Koncept - Fangy 24cm demo fin - 87ltre isonic

Supposed to be a strong wind warning..Undecided Rigged for the possible wind rather than what was there..doh!!Yell

Wasted another session underdone..I was going to rig the 6.6m but everyone was saying it was strong out there.grr.

Got going in a few gusts but never powered up in a bearaway and very patchy / short gusts anyway. 1st gybe was the only one I didn't have the go pro on and the best of the day..Undecided too wide for an alpha. Had fun doing gybes except for the one where I muffed it and the mast hit my shin and wedged on me..OW!!

Hung out there for 1.30hr hoping it would kick in but then went in for larger gear.

By then it had turned more NNE and was stronger but in the chop with not much in the flats.

Impressed with the Fangy fin so far..It needs a sand so the back was sticking up a bit and it weighed a ton but it was great in the chop. I actually got my 2 sec out in the choppier section and I trusted it to get me through the 'big' chop powered up without any issues..It cut through the flats like kestrels etc . I went through some thick weed mat that was a bit under the water but haven't tried it in the dense bergs yet.

Fangy said he designed it to make crappy sessions fun and I must admit so far that's true! Wink

I'll give it a bit more of a test and then all good people can demo it from me ( if they can prise it from my fingers..Wink ). The demo fin is solid so very heavy. the production ones are hollow and weigh ' about the same as a G10 fin the same size".

Pushed myself a little and stirred up the shoulder again..

Entertaining read Andrew! If you could get consistent wind all over the lake it would make life so much easier..Undecided. Good hr. I was thinking of trying it one time but after reading this ..mmmWink Maybe in 10-15kts with the big gear.
