Much better than I was expecting! A great cruise at Pt Walter in solid and consistent wind. The tide was way too low to get anywhere near the bank, and some submerged rocks were a concern so I stuck to the freeride board even though I would have gone a lot better on the speed board. Sun was out and no kites in sight. A great couple of hours. A new speed and alpha record on this board!

F2 Ride 277; 6.6 koncept; MFC 32cm (now with munted leading edge)

Pinnaroo Point , WA, AU

Arrows 6m, Kinetic Centurion 120L(?)

What  a day.  Tried Greg's board and realised I was too ambitious with my skills when I thought I could handle a smaller board.

Only got it going twice, the rest was dragging, falling in, waterstarting.

I did a walk od shame twice, the second time got bitten by a cobbler, just to wrap up a bad day.

I used all the appropriate meds (2 grappas) and 1 parecetamol, keep my leg in a hot water. still, hurts like hell...

Turned out a nice day. Disappointed early this morning with the lack of wind. Decided Woodies was probably best chance.

Ended up a pretty good session on the West end of the point. Ventured round the north side once but it was way too shallow. Some good little runs just south of the west tip.

Slowy was doing silly speeds as per usual. Had a quick go on the Nude 54 and it is a very different beast to what I am used to. Found the board got planing surprisingly easily for such a narrow tail. Certainly handled the chop with no dramas. Didn't feel I was fully powered up enough to really test it out. (6.3 as opposed to Slowy on a 7) interesting. Thanks for the go Mr Boat.

Ended the day with a quick outing on the waveboard to try and get used to it for the Gloo.

Wind was cold but the sun was out and even though the kites are now using the west side too it was still a top day.

Warp 6.3, sonic 100, elmo 29 weedy.

Sorry to hear you got cobbled, Obelix.

Nice numbers on old Yella, Chris. Sorry I didn't join you but I thought it might be a touch shallow.

Well that was fantastic!

Starboard Acid 80, Select 25 wave fin, with brand new Ezzy 5.2 Wave Panther 2 Cool

I desperately needed to sort out the brakes on my car this weekend, so after managing to get the hub assembly off and into pieces on my workshop table, I discovered that the piston was stuck in the caliper... This would normally mean a week without my car so was pretty annoyed.  Anyway to cut a long story short somehow I bodgied it all back together and had a top sail!

Wind was a good 18 knots at the start, and picked up to a solid 25 knots by the time I called it quits... how much fun can one man have in a day?

Good to meet Obelix and get completely blown away by Pointman, he was flying out there!  I didn't care, the new sail duck gybes very nicely Laughing

Also snides rocked up unexpectedly, sorry you couldn't get a windsurf in today mate.

Great sesh at Pinnaroo in a surprisingly strong seabreeze. Cool

Easy 20-25K for a while there.  Tried out my new 2009 7.4 KA Koyote.  Pretty controllable early on, got to be a bit of a handful when it picked up to 25K for a while!

Flying with the F111 + 40 Choco.  Got my peak on this combo.

Plugged in the S-Type + 31 JP weedie for a while, which made things a bit more manageable, but eventually my arms were getting pulled out of my sockets and I had to concede I was overpowered and change down to my 6.4 Koncept.

Sailed another 45 minutes on the S-Type + 6.4.  Tacked up to the breakwater and sailed a couple of nice broad reaches back to base.  The breeze had backed off some and by the end I was barely powered on the 6.4.

Fantastic sesh. Felt like summer, except it was bloody cold.  Nebs was in boardies....whatta freak. Surprised

Great to see you guys got out, bad luck obelix, that's not nice. Stick with the hot water and or hot bead pack. If you can spare the time and its really being painful, Joondalup emergency is the answer.

Me well I am stuck with only three weeks to go and setting up gear. The way its raining in the East at the moment, I doubt I will have any trouble finding a wet patch to sail on.Laughing

Anybody ever sailed up in the Gulf country? I am turning left at Cloncurry and then onto Nomanton and then to Karumba? OR ARE THERE TOO MANY CROCOGATORSSurprised

Well done guys. Your results are all so close.
Snake, good to see you back. Finally met Nebian too. There should be a few more posts...
Sorry I mised you Pointman.I was there between 2-3pm, and felt a bit underpowered with 6m. I probably missed the strongest wind, but had to go home . Too painful.

Mineral, a little cobbler sting will be the least of your problems if you risk it up there. Crocks, sharks, jellyfish, stingrays, stonefish....

Otherwise, shouldn't complain much. The hot water helped and the pain trasformed from a  deep agony to a bearable burn.

I was stung by just about anything out there. Scorpion fish, stingrays, this is the second cobler sting me.
The pain...remember it well from my fishing days, and cleaning the nest form the scoprion fish infestation...

I got wet, Life is good Laughing

Sorry to hear about the cobbler Danijel. I didn't think they were a problem at the beach.

Smaller boards do take a bit of getting used to. Don't give up. Try it on flatter water next time.

I had a similar experience yesterday using Bender's 6.7 race sail. Nice to sail but I found once I got it into deep water I couldn't lift it high enough to waterstart in the light wind, even when the luff tube wasn't full of water. A bigger sail than I am used to and much heavier, and my upper body strength not the best after a windless winter. I'd better stick to sails I know I can handle for a while. Thanks for the loan though, Ben! It was still fun.

Sorry to hear about the cobbler sting Obelix.

Must admit I don't relish wading through all that weed when you come ashore at Pinnaroo.

Hopefully now winter is behind us a couple of good southerly blows will clear it out.
