AlfaMale (20472km): ![]() Quibra Bay. Pretty Good spot for a Sydney SW! And really close to my house... added bonus, as I didn't have time for a drive to Illawarra today! Exocet RS2 91L, 32cm Nitro fin and my fav sail, Maui 7.0. Wind SW (swinging WSW, SSE) 5kts (for 60 seconds) to about 25kts for a few gusts. Mostly 15-20kt. Sub-planning 3 times for less than a minute. When I was upwind (south) I managed to find enough almost flat watter that the board started applauding my 25+kt speeds.
The swell was max 20cm at the beach (down wind) and dropped to < 5cm when I went upwind a bit. The surrounding mangrove trees are about 2-3m high, so not to bad at blocking the wind. Just not as good as a sandbar. Quibray is probably better than George's river at HIGH TIDE! much smoother, with nice little sandie patches on the Eastern edge near the mangroves to stand in while you adjust the outhaul. It might even be better than the George's River sandbar, as the swell should be more consistent, rather than peaking just before you start the run downwind. I'll have to see in a SE.

| Sick_em_rex (12326km): Canton Beach, NSW, AU First sail in a long long time and not sure when the next one will be so glad we got at least a little bit of the predicted wind. Rigged too small to start with so glad I rigged the 6.7 in the end although I was regretting not bringing my 7.5. Anyway, plugged it into the Falcon 89 and off I went for a play. I forgot how much I HATE weed but that's Canton!! It took a while but eventually we got a few nice gusts coming through and I jagged a nice one to get my 2sec which I'm pretty happy with. Great to see a lot of familiar faces including the usual suspects (Johnny Dicky Ward Miller, Larko, Spence etc). Windsurfing is a very cathartic sport | ||||||||||||||||||
| T (11550km): Canton Beach, NSW, AU Where do these forecasts come from?? Everyone was all keen for some high wind blasting but all we got was some nice powered runs later on after a bit of slogging. When Mick, Rexy and I went out it was just bogging along. Got down the end of the run and had a few just planing runs. the boys went in, I stayed. Then the wind started to very slowly pick up and I had a few squirts but short. Then everyone came back down and it was fun for awhile. water was nowhere as cold as we thought it would be and nice and sunny. Great to catch up with the lads and fun to have a sail with Rexy again, its been awhile!!! Weed was pretty bad but thats Canton. Upside is the water is friggin' flat. Falcon 112, Evo IV 7.0, 25 custom weedy. | ||||||||||||||||||
