bit of fun at Clifton today, wind was up and down throughout the arvo so I was using the 7.9  Ka race and swapping between the rrd V8's 122 and 108 with various 40-44cm vector volts.

havent done that much slalom of late so it was good to blow the cobwebs out. sailed with ali as the medicine man got held up in town.

hopefully another couple of days out of this pattern if the rain holds off

I am Soooo UNFIT...WOW. Nice to blow out a few cob webs with Ed and Andy at Port Douglas. Marginal conditions - felt stronger than it was with plenty of storm skuds moving through. Fitness was really telling, especially as was underpowered for at least half of the hour. Ed was on a smash and grab sesssion I think - he was hooting at times. That new 97 Iso really looks the business. Great to see you on the water Andy, well done.

Had to split early due to home comittments - great to catch up again Ed. You looked really good.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU  Got down the beach about a bit before 3oclock Bad Boy Billy blew in on his way back from Cooktown.  Andrew rocked up with a' get out of jail free card' when school finished .Was keen to try burnt out 6.6m North rig on new 97 Isonic  and 36cm fin in a fresh southeast breeze... Did one tune up lap in a choppy sea and was keen for a good blast, but harness lines started to turn to shit and finally broke before the end of the first half, lost time and could not get  dialed in,Thats the3rd set in less than half a seasion. 'Not Happy'.Put another set on and had to keep the 'pedal to the metal 'till dark just the clock up a few km..Had the tide from hell running all arvo and had to stay really hard on the wind the whole time  or do the walk of shame ..It seemed to get worse as the arvo went on..But you get that from time to time...Billy had a good session, but his mum said he had to be back in cairns by sundown..Andrew put in a good effort doing battle with a strong tide and flukey inshore wind...Might have another quick blast after work tomorrow..Cheers Ed..

Port Douglas.  The word of the day is UGLY.  A strong current and wicked tides made this session really hard.  Couldn't get settled - rigged 7.2 Fusion, maybe too much downhaul, and maybe too much outhaul.  Kind of freaked at the wind, but it turned out to be really inconsistent.  Just when I got planing, the wind died, and then I got knocked further and further down the beach.  Ended up having to do the "walk of shame", ended up down at the sailing club.  Caught up with my mate, Ed and he also had to work hard to keep upwind to stop himself from getting knocked down the beach as well.  Said g'day to Billy as he screamed past, but didn't catch him at the end.  Also my fitness was really tested as I couldn't get into the straps for long enough so I was fighting the whole way.  I thought about putting on my larger fin - 41cm slalom, which would have helped grip the water a bit better.  But, all in all, one of those ugly days where you just have to cop it and write it off to experience and Time On Water.  Going to sneak out tomorrow - I will take the 133 litre isonic and see if the 49cm fin I have for it helps me deal with the mongrel tide.

Ed's new board is a bit lairy for him, but he seems to be doing some really good sailing with it.  Glad to see that he is using state of the art equipment.
