Solid session, windy at times. Had a wonderful lift that took me to Pt Walter and dropped me off on the sandbar - that doesn't happen often. Good to catch up with some Pinnas at Melville and Peli.

Albany, WA, AU

Arrived in Albany outskirts at 12 feeling quite sick. Still not sure if it was the sausage roll at Kojonup or the revised down forecast. But as fortune would have it whitecaps and sunshine welcomed me as I drove to Frenchmans Bay which was a surprise. It was blowing about 15knots. Mike and Peter were out and Morts was rigging as I arrived. Nina soon appeared looking really quick. I rigged the 7.1 and went out on the 61 Manta with the new Chris Lockwood Delta 18. With the tide to low for the naughty run it tried to line up every weed berg in sight. No problems! The fin has slightly more drag than the normal wp but gets into flat spaces so definately worth sacrificing top end to sail anywhere. Started to feel better but felt pretty weak and couldn't be bothered hanging onto the 7.1 so I changed down to the 6.4 and tried a few alphas. The wind started to increase to 20 so I tried the Manta 54 with the 14cm Delta fin just to see how it would feel. Extreemly loose and not as quick. Hated going even to the wind or upwind. Would be great in a speed run in 25knots only I think. Finished experiementing and went back out with the 59 Manta and the 18 fin. felt great and just kept going. Came in to meet Shane121 from the Mob who like Morts lives in Albany as Mob SE agents. What an experience in a pristine environment. Surprised to see pbs except for distance. Now sitting in an Italian restaurant trying to eat a pb calorie meal. The steak is bigger than a 32 fin! Smile Top day for sure.

Fun sessionwith new Simmer 2xc sail.

Chose the right size which was great since Tim said I would get blown away. OK, the wind dropped a bit as well.

Good to see Boz, Andrew, Tim and Anita.

Melville Beach, WA, AU M91, 5.4K, 30 powermax

Captain calm strikes again! Arrived at Melville as the wind was picking up (24 - 27 kn on seabreeze), and people were coming in to change down. Boz said he was overpowered on 6.3 so I rigged a 5.4. By the time I was half rigged the wind had dropped right back and I contemplated rigging bigger but couldn't be bothered.

The 5.4 was good in the gusts but I was dogging quite a bit on the way out. I had fun in bursts. I only managed one gybe I was happy with, but quite a few quick tacks. Looking at my results in realspeed, 8 out of my top ten alphas were tacks, including the best one.

Not a top ten Melville day, but good to be on a fast board again.

Nice day to be on the water. Good company with a few Pinnas out and other social butterflies about. Expecting a big gear day...Got smashed on the 7.8 early so changed down to the 6.4 which heralded the sudden drop off wind strength. Really didn't want to do another re-rig so called it a day after a few more squirts.

A perfect way to end the day only a short sail but just enough wind to make it enjoyable.

Some huge Pbs Mark! Great work on the distance, especially, considering you were unwell. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Congratulations on the alpha PB Scott! Sorry I missed you at Melville today.

Congrats on the PBs! Mark, maybe today was the day to feel sick - Nina barely had the energy to make it onto the water today. Seems the conditions here are a cure-all for sick windsurfers Laughing
