CA44 and North 5.4, Lessacher 18 then Original Delta 17

Cold, miserable, rainy and not much wind early on. Slowly improved by lunch it was probably around 30 kts. Rained heavy for most of the session. Only one  small patch of flat water which was surrounded and dotted with weed bergs. Finally the rain eased a little so I decided it would be a good time to pack up.

20-27kts then 30kts plus SW Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU- level - 0.55

4.6m KA Koncept - 70ltre Patrick - 16cm tribal delta

Well that was better than the big w last week! Should have had the 5m on at first but by the end the 50ltre and a smaller sail would have been good. Fair bit of flatwater at first but as the wind got up it got a bit harder to find. Hard to score a gust in the flat.

Nice to finally have a mast and be able to use the 4.6m - much easier than manhandling the old 5m!

After last week where it felt suicidal getting 33kts I was surprised to see 33.8kts on the GPs after the first run. It felt like 26kts! What a difference a little bit of flatwater makes..

Got there early and it was raining and all over the place so went to a cafe until it sorted itself out..I only went down to get a mast and I could have whimped and gone home to the fire but I'm glad I went out. Rained most of the time. 12 degrees later in the day so less earlier but I was nice and warm with a rashie under the 4- 5- 3mm wettie and a neoprene hood..First time I went out in the rain without my glasses and it was much better!

By the end it was starting to feel like last weeks big westerlie and flatwater was harder to come by. I should have had lunch before I got out and I was tired and hungry. Did 2 runs in the big gusts. I didn't fancy heading over the channel and copping one of the 35kt plus gusts so I whimped and walked down the flats and drifted the last 60m across to the shore. I tied my gear to a fence and walked back to the car and drove around later.

A good option  to know if things get knarly. Smile

Didn't try any gybes - 2 sec weather. I'm getting better speeds as I'm starting to learn where to go to get flatter water and trying more bearaways..

Sue, You were really going for it today, (Daffy must have given you a pep talk at the cafe)

You looked really comfortable going deep off the wind - Well done!
