Billy (10637km):  Holloways Beach, QLD, AU First sail for 2020 with B2. Very nice little afternoon in 12-15 knts from the East at the Mud Pit. Decided to give B2's busted up old 8.6 a crack today. Felt great whilst the breeze was in the 12 knot range, then it lifted and it felt like holding onto a bag of cement. All this weight and just not going anywhere....note to self, don't forget to add the extra 4cm of downhaul next time. WOOPs. Anyways, it was a very noice arvo ina generally quiet time of the year. We don't often get these opportunities, and they are well appreciated. Had the Cairns Post photographer on the beach snapping a few shots of the newly crowned "State Champion" - that's what I told the reporter where he asked me about how far B2 went out. Couldn't help my self, every now and again you have to talk up ya mates Plenty of wildlife out past the churned up wash with B2 taking turns to show off to a local dolphin. Used: Motion, WT72 SB, 8.6 OD R4, BPR 475 - just what the doctored ordered. Fantastic FNQ afternoon. | ||||||||||||||||||

And it ended up being a fun little light wind arvo sesh off the mud pit after much early morning debate on whether to make the trip over to GI... Plenty of sea life present including a dolphin popping up close on one of the runs to say g'day! Noticed a news reporter with a big arse camera in deep conversation with B1 when coming back in on a run to the beach for a break... First thoughts were aaargghh, oh no, what's he up to! The smirkey smile was a dead giveaway, so I decided to get straight back on the water and make for a quick exit... I am guessing there will be some sort of report (hopefully with some truth to it) in the local rag tomorrow Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne 8.6 M2, Venom 48 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"
