Arrived at 9am, rigged 6.6KA Koncept and 5.7KA Race. Wind was dropping so went out on 6.6m sail with CA SL53 (87L) and 20cm Atomic weedie - planed on outward run, planed for 10m on return run when inhaul line popped out and boom pitched forwards. Re-routed the formuline rope and re-secured boom to mast, all in deep water. Then wind dropped so much that water starting wasn't possible. I drifted on outgoing tide to nearest sandbar and walked back to last channel and dogged it carefully across to car park... very inauspicious start to day...
Waited an hour or so then wind came up a bit. During this time it was so light that Craig got out his fishing rod and started fishing. Wind promptly came up and I went back out on 6.6m sail. Within 30min was overpowered so came in and swapped to 5.7m sail. Thirty minutes later was overpowered again. Sailed back in and rigged 5m KA Koncept. Sailed this for a further hour but quite overpowered for the whole time.
Eventually packed it in as I didn't have a smaller sail. Great to see so many out enjoying the warm sunny day. The banks were great for some fast(ish) bear-offs.
Craig was still going when I left at 140km... up and down, up and down like a metronome. I'm beginning to think he must be a cyborg...
