1156 days ago Returned to bumpy old Melville today with my newly acquired Lipton's "go faster" skills and Melville was really quite flat up the eastern end.

1156 days ago Melville Beach, WA, AU Hi all fellow team members. Newbie and rookie here. Anita has graciously invited me to this team. Started wind surfing about 2 1/2 years ago roughly when I turned 50. Seems a great sport to get a workout and have fun with lots to learn. Also inspiring to see lots of sailors 20+ years senior doing the sport. Discovered GPSTC just a few weeks ago by accident when down in Albany over new year looking for places to sail. Noticed charcters Stretch and Morts tracks and attempted to follow them the next day. No real clue what I was doing as rigged up where the kite boarders hang out and struggled through all the weedbergs to get to their start spot. Got to the launch spot for the NM and they took off immediately so I went after them. To my horror they appeared to be sailing over what looked like grass (solid sea weed rising out of the water) but I hung on for dear life in my big board with generic cheapo weed fin that Reg sold me to get me started. To my surprise I didn't die, catapault or even stall but the fin was really pulling and wanting to give up but everything became a lot quieter. Wow, different world. After that run I was hooked and attempted it a bunch more times with less sucess on each attempt and always ended up stalling and ending up like a sea monster. Anyway, I got a glimpse of going fast for a moment and was hooked. Been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks now but was prompted yesterday by another team to join. Joined here hoping to learn something and improve and meet others. I'm the balding guy with the beat up blue campervan and normally sail Melville as its close. Not likely to contribute to scoring any time soon as just amazed at how much faster a very large bunch of you are. Since this is my first post, I have no clue if I'm doing this right or not...just pushed the KA72 share button. As for today I was on RRD 104 Freeride Board, RRD 6.7 Move MK6 with a RRD 32 fin (that came with the board) which was second real day on this board for me. Was choppy in the deeper water so tried to keep moving upwind and stay on the sand bar but bottomed out a few times in the lulls.

Nice solid seabreeze down at Peli. Great but bumpy session on the Cruise Missile and 7.0 Loft RB. Went for a run up to Lucky Bay then over to Pt Walter for a few runs before doing a nice downwinder back to Peli. Plenty out enjoying the good conditions.

Groundhog day. Same as yesterday but still some gust to blast in. Tomski made a guest appearance and good to see the Boz gaffa tape free and brandishing a new board to 'modify'. Tailwind and later 'Lai' Kenny made an appearance and the usual crew enjoying some cold frothies to end the day.

Nice session with the usual mob, had to be lucky to hit the right gust today, the master slow one managed one at least. Good to catch up with some pinnas, and thanks for the beer Tim went down like a treat. Caught up with Kenny and he's sold me on wind dinging, even gave me the low down on the best spot to learn, seems Melville lucky bay is the go between the sand bank Seems foiling is on it's way out and wind dinging is the way to go

1156 days ago Peel Inlet, WA, AU 5m Koncept, sonic 85 with 18 tribal delta then Manta 54 speed with 23 tribal weedspeed 16 - 23 kn. Best speeds were on the Manta.
The most fun I have had all year!
The tide stayed at an optimum level all afternoon. Not too deep, not too shallow. There was a big crew of happy speed sailors for company.
I rigged a bit small on account of my sore elbow, and was never fully powered up, but the elbow coped well. Should have gone withthe 5.4. There was an annoying lull just before the flattest water which made it hard to keep the speed going, but I was happy to get over 30 kn for my first real speed sailing session since I cracked a rib at 36 kn on Point Grey in Feb last year. Also my longest distance since March 22nd last year - a pathetic effort for a team captain, but I am on my way back!
