Pelican Point, WA, AU

A gusty and choppy SE - had a good 45 min at the end of the session when the wind was more consistent.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU  Come to Mandurah for the flat water they said.  Well, to date, after 3 visits there has been little sign of much flat water.  However Captain said this was the place to be today and the time to be there was afternoon...so the day was been planned accordingly.  Since I had a new unfinished Fangy fin in my possesion I spent 2hrs this morning going through the entire Seabreeze thread on the fin before starting work on the fin (minus the vids).  Hats off to Fangy and all the others involved for the amount of effort put into these fins so far.   Spent 2hrs 58 minutes sanding to get the powerbox to fit, drilling the holes etc, then 1 minute per side knocking off the high bits on the fin itself with a 60 grit flapper disk.  Fangy said the finish quality only improves upwind ability and since I was keen to try it out and running out of time I headed to Liptons with the super dodgy finish.  Surprised to find no one except a bunch of kiters out.  Met Dave from Onemoreknot just about to rig up and we both headed out together.  A young kid (mobster?) also turned up who had convinced mum to drive him down who managed to rig faster than me which is impressive (my excuse is those booties which despite yesterday issues I wore again).   Not a Mobster in sight which seemed strange.   I rigged the max Fangy recommended sail at 6.7m and headed out.   Instantly on the plane which was nice.  Water was lumpy but the flatest so far but pretty much on par with Melville.  Fin was solid even in the big chop but as Fangy had said with no polish the upwind ability will be low...so true to his word slowly made my way upwind to explore Ward point as a basic recon mission.  Wind was relatively constant but not cranking so a good exploring breeze.   By this time the kiters had all but disappeared and Dave and young maybe mobster? were hanging out down south so had the place entirely to myself.   There was a small area that one might call flatish so hung out there for the remainder....certainly was the flattest in Mandurah so far for me.  Was magical at one point when a giant flock of birds decided to fly around me at 1m off the water and hung out for the entire tack.  Wind picked up a notch in the last 10 mins and was tempted to extend the session and endure the wrath of the tribe in a possible exchange for #'s but an off on the 2nd to last gybe and a giant something leaping out of the water a few cm from me convinced me to call it quits for the day.  Not the slightest hint of any spinout at anytime and was rock solid in low to high winds.   Super impressed with the fin.  Really enjoyable but too short session.  120 Tabou Rocket, 6.7 RRD Move, 22 Fangy with dodgy finsih

Majestic Point, WA, AU

Missed timed it today. Wind was very funky when I got out and picked up when I was about to go home.

Stoked you managed to get a session in Flex. I was thinking you were going to be in for a skunkin’! Good to hear your metal work paid off too, even if it was a dodgy effort by Huey - one day the holes in the cheese will align and you will score a flat water day down here and then you will understand why ‘they’ have led you astray thus far:-)

Nice to read your essay Flex. Ope you get to rip with the blade over winter. Fangyland is a must.
