A lovely day for a trip to South Yunderup with Flex.  The 7m Mach3 and Patrik 120 Litre yacht were fine for the wind that lasted for about an hour.  No records broken but S.Yunderup is a very nice spot for a long recreational sail!  Kms and Kms of shallow, same depth water.

South Yunderup, WA, AU   Exploratory mission to Yuderup.   Met Reg there but was a wind shadow at rigup point so only about 5knots despite reading 17 knots on Mandurah.  Reg insisted as per his normal operating procedure to do the Tour de Yuderup to check the place out whilst I rigged 7.8 and headed out just as he returned.  After about 100m got out of the wind shadow and was nicely powered on flat water for 1.5km then over powered all the way down to Austin Bay reserve markers where the wind died off for a few hundred meters then came back nicely in Austin Bay.  Same on return trip with a wind blank and then overcooked and considered changing down but tried one more run, this time struggling to get going. Wind was better about 1.5km south of launch spot and was nicely powered.  Eventually Reg came out but the wind was dying and I struggled to get going but the Bantam seemed to have no issue.  On the final run made the mistake of following Reg despite the wind being really marginal and dropping but managed to get planning and followed him to the reserve markers then gybed.  Never got going again but Reg flew past but manged to face plant in a weed berg or something a few hundred meters ahead and he never got going again either and we both limped home for 20mins or so.  A rail squal came and provided enough boost to make the last km on the plane.  Looked like it would produce a bit moree so we both headed out for more.  Hit like a bullet same time as the rain and little to do but wait for it to pass.  Then a nice full double rainbow appeared, Reg managed to keep planing in no wind but it was all over.  120 Tabou rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive FF22

Nice Pic Flex, almost religious!

Certainly something going on (religious or not) as the wind was no more than 5 knots when I took this photo. (actually its a shit screen shot of a very nice 5.6K video but I haven't managed to work out how to extract proper stills yet).  More importantly did you realise this was the first time my 2sec speed was higher than yours when sailing at the same spot at the same time.  I'm counting it as a PB (or FTB) Faster Than Bantam

Well done on the 2 sec FTB Flex.  My Nm and Alpha and 5X10's were OK for the conditions, so that's "interesting".  Big gust got you I reckon.WinkInterestingly my shitty peak was 28.5 knts at 4:09pm when that last storm gust came through and we left the water at 4:12pm.  No sailing tomorrow at Chook Pond, 5km Covid exercise restrictions in force.
