sboardcrazy (24291km): Mainly 5-10kts few puffs 10-13kts W-WSW Coal Point, NSW, AU 7.5m turbo- Windtech 64 ( 112ltres)- 35cm tectonics weed demon Desperado sail. It was a cold 14degrees when I got there . I told myself that was tropical compared to the minus 2 we had at home this morning.. Mainly a longboard type sail out of the straps .Just got 3 patches of stronger stuff to get into the straps for a few short fun blats. It seemed to be dying a bit and there wasn't enough to think about trying to get onto the plane so I decided to set myself the challenge of going across to Swansea..It took forever at 3-4kts and there was only c 4kts in the lee of Wangi. I had a weird experience as I came into the sandy shallows.. I could see this reddish brown square of stuff in front of me..it looked like some school of seacreatures was fleeing in front of me.. It was starting to freak me out and then I realised it was the reflection of my sail in the water.. It's funny how your mind plays tricks. A similar situation to when my horse used to spook at a white treestump and freak out until he got close enough to realise it was nothing.. Quite pretty and pleasant sitting over there but I was starting to worry about having no wind to get back. It was a slow trip back and at times I was worrying that the wind would be too light or turn too NW and I wouldn't make it. A few boats around, 2 foiling moths match racing all over the lake, and ,me. It was a lovley sunny day and I didn't fall in so I'm happy.. |
