Hardie (35741km): Cobblers, my fave winter conditions NE to NNE 15kts and Sunny, shared with the Legend of Legends Decrep
Elmo (31413km): JP SLW, NP RSX MWS, NP Fusion 6.7 The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the hipsters were wing wanging and us old timers were out windfoiling. Got down the late everybody came in to rig down so I rigged the 5.0 chugged out chugged back rigged a 6.7m Much nicer than chips Had a great sail came of the water with a nice smile. Lotsa fun
Stretch (30716km): Dawesville, WA, AU. FTY, GTR+, GPX6.0m. 2nd sesh on the GTR+. Nearly gave it a miss because it looked too windy when I arrived, but Firie tricked me into giving it a crack (glad he did). So I took my pussy boots off, slipped on my Rambo wetsuit and out I went. First sesh with the GTR a few weeks ago I was completely out of control, so this time I had my footstraps forward a hole a mast track forward a bit and shim reduced to -0.5. Went out, better than last time but still on the edge of disaster. Came in and adjusted further: mast track further forward; footstraps all the way forward and stabiliser shim to -1. Went out again - MUCH better! Felt like I was in control now, still had to watch the lift, but I could actually enjoy myself a bit now. Ended up having a blast, much more fun cruising along 4-5kts faster than my old Supercruiser. Not particularly fast I know, but pretty stoked to crack 20kts for first time Good to be out with Slugger, Swindy, Strop and Alby
Swindy (10125km): Dawesville, WA, AU Enduro 5.9 & 5.4. Supercruiser 1700 & 1300 wing, Alien 145 Another sunny day at Dawesville with a big crew out. Mostly dingers but a few of us pole dancing foilers. Good to see Stretch has stopped trying to teach the dolphins how to porpoise and was looking much more stable. T 1 was going well on his small wing until I sabotaged him by giving him a 4.7 to use. Elmo turned up late and killed the wind but looked good once he changed up sails.
Decrepit (54506km): light wind cruise at Cobblers/Ward pt, in the sun with Hardie. Used the big gear for a change, 65cm board, 6.6koncept and 29cm weedy, was nice in the gusts, but groveling in the lulls. Saw a nice gust coming, that looked to be fairly long. so did a downwinder to the point. Found a big weed berg supporting half a dozen pelicans, so I avoided that! Had a couple of runs up there before the wind died, then had a long up wind grovel back. Wind wasn't quite my favourite direction, could have had more east then it wouldn't have been so hard to get back from the point. But it was nice to be out in easy conditions, even the groveling wasn't a hassle on the big gear. Best speed was at the flatest water at the point. |
