Coodanup, WA, AU

woohoo! lucky gust ;)

Thought I might have PBd for the chook pond but no... http://gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2014-07-07&team=10 (Edit: turns out that was the last time I got >46 on the dial... wow has it been that long???!)

Wind was quite square today so it was all slingshots off the bank. Fastest run hit the peak a way off and into the slop. PB session was much broader so could follow the gusts along the bank in the flat. Heaps harder today. Some surprises coming from the others... Awesome fun to share some proper wind for once:) a bit more bank angle and it would have been epic.

Shot through the channel again on the way back! that was fun.

Edit: KASpeed 5.7, 53 relic, 23wsp. Weedspeed delivered today. Confidence through the chop was everything.

Yes mega epic! It would have been great to witness the 46 but unfortunately I was cowering under the sail limping back to the carpark. Top sailing dude.

Thanks for the tips today Chris.  I got your crash on video. Snap of you impacting below.  You were under the sail somewhere between 5-6 secs but they were long creepy seconds.  Not sure how fast I could have done the 50m mud run but the brain was with 2 secs of mobilising body to find out when you surfaced. Seeing you and Stretch go down made me take it easier than I would have today.   Wasn't a day for a Rookie to go for it.

Thanks guys! Thanks for showing my stack Flex (grrrr). Certainly not as dramatic as Rob's! Front foot came out and suddenly I'm going over the bars. No biggie, but found myself under the sail, pinned to the ground by the boom still hooked in. One of those "hang on a minute this could end badly" scenarios considering I'd already breathed out. Fortunately from a few near misses in a past life (whitewater kayaking) I didn't panic- found the harness line and unhooked it, wriggled out from under the boom and kept going till I was out the end of the sail in a few seconds. I'll try not to do that again!

Was awesome to sail in wind like that again. Was certainly very rusty and tentative. But keen for more. Imagining that kind of wind in Albany on a low tide (drooooool).

Olympics? Who needs the Olympics?  We got Chris Lockwood at 85.23kmh (It sounds a lot faster in laymans language).  A staggering effort in what looked like scarey conditions.  Those pussies at Luderitz have it easy.
