Andrew Haigh (48951km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Stingray, 800.95.330SE 12-18+ Warmer and better wind than yesterday. | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (24381km): 12- 18 patches 20 kts SE Coal Point, NSW, AU- 14- 18 degrees 7m Turbo- Windtech 57 ( 90ltre) - 28cm WT weedy It was 14 degrees and rained most of the way down and I'm thinking why am I doing this? I was tired from yesterday , off in the stomach and lacking confidence and enthusiasm. I wasn't looking forward to stacking every gybe.. It was patchy but gusting to 18kts plus so I played it safe and rigged the medium kit. This is the one I'd been doing gybe practise with. Much easier than the big kit! The best sail for ages ! Andrew said it was patchy compared to a NE but it was the best I've been out in since last summer. There was the usual patchy hole in front of Coal but it was pretty consistent other than that. I was off the plane a bit but I need to build up my sailing fitness. Some long runs were on offer but I found myself hoping for a lull for a rest halfway along.. Weird, at times I was puffing and my heart was going so hard I thought I'd have a heart attack yet the watch said I only got to 122bpm... I've been getting higher than that in other activities but haven't noticed it.. Had a rest on the end of the point and then came in for a snack. Out for one last run but it was getting very lumpy and c 20kts so I pulled the plug. I'm stoked to get every gybe! Not brilliant and they need work but they were all dry. I even tried for an alpha but I went upwind and crossed tracks so I'll have to bear off next time. I'm going in more powered up and must be standing up somewhere as the sail opens out a bit and then I can't get it back in..A work in progress. They feel more stable on the exit . I'll have to put the Go pro on to confirm what I'm doing wrong. Had a few spinouts which is unusual with that combo . I must have had something wrong. I'm starting to get my mojo back.. A great confidence booster.. |
