Slowboat (47697km):
914 days ago Melville Beach, WA, AU
NWer. 5.7 KA'21 speed, 53 relic, 25wsp. Windy! Gusting to >30kts- closer to high 30s (even 40) at times. Monster storm surge made it a total washing machine. There was NO flat water today. Occasionally the chop would line up to be navigable with some serious adrenaline and a touch of hope. Fortunately no spills (but came close a few times for sure). Weedburgs are back however and I hit one. It was solid. Glad I had the weedspeed in. Barely managed to not catapault. Fastest run completely on the edge heading into carpark, nosediving in the chop and by some miracle it ended up 38.6kts on the 10sec. No wonder I was sh!tting myself. Wind booted in some more so did a few back and forth runs to try to remember what sailing in strong wind is like in slalom mode. Some of the bullets were probably close to 40kts and violent. Hard to keep the board on the water... Good to see the other nutters out there having a crack. Without the storm surge, it would have been all-time today for melville.
Made the wrong call today- was windier than expected so Rsoles late afternoon would have been the go.
